Is this a bug?
I'm trying to build Lakeview Manor for my Hearthfire DLC. It tells me to purchase lumber wood for my house in Half-Moon Mill, but whenever I go there I can't buy wood. Am I supposed to talk to somebody? Please answer, I'm throughly ♥♥♥♥ed.

Yes you need to order the lumber there should be someone at the lumber mill.

I'll keep searching around for people that can sell me lumber.

You don't have to buy it there (there isn't always someone outside at Half-Moon for... spoilery reasons).

You can buy it at any mill and fullfill the little non-quest. Riverwood is right up the road.

You're not looking for the usual "What do you have for sale" option. Its a slightly different behaviour here. If you have the Misc. Quest objective, follow that marker to the person.

Its possible they've been killed by something (dragons, bears, wild alpacas). I think other lumber mills can also sell wood.

If you have a steward you can have them buy the lumber.

I've cut my own wood, I have been to many saw mills and talked to the owners. No one offers to sale sawn wood to me. I don't get wood from sawing it either. Any one know of a fix for this.

Speaking to a sawmill operator after purchasing a land plot should show the "I'd like to buy some lumber" dialogue, you should then have the option to purchase 20 logs or ask "Can I just cut the lumber myself?" the response to which depends on if the sawmill operator likes you, with them refusing if they are neutral or unfriendly to you and agreeing if friendly.

You can usually get them friendly by doing any quest that they may be involved in and most will have the unlisted chop wood quest allowing you to sell them all firewood you are carrying if you are carrying any.

Hod in Riverwood is usually easy to find, just wait by the mill until a little after 9 am and he should arrive there to start work.

If you are not seeing the dialogue, then either you are speaking to the wrong person or you have a mod conflict stopping the dialogue from appearing.

Just get a steward/housecarl. They'll sell you that stuff.

True, but thats no use if you are wanting to get the logs without having to spend money on them, which can be an issue if you are doing your building early when money is tight.

I would just use the console codes to give me money. But that's me. Even without money codes, my new character is at a fairly low level and can already buy two houses. Smithing and enchanting is key.

I usually find that when I go the first time to the mill owner, he's inside cooking supper, the guy outside is a decoy, lol.
