New to Steam. Skyrim wont let me play!
Hey guys. Im new to computer gaming and I decided to try skyrim on the computer since I played it on the xbox. Ive download some mods using nmm to make the graphics looks better. When I verify the catch integrity it says I have 1 missing file. idk what that means. So im able to launch the game and get it to start. But when the game starts the horses and wagons are colliding and flying everywhere then they die and im stuck at the beginning of the game. I deactivated the mods. Re-installed skyrim and its still doing the same thing. is that missing file the problem? please help!

That is actually a bug with the collision system. Try restarting should fix it, I have never had it happen myself but I've seen others with the issue. It shouldn't be a mod issue and can also happen on the xbox360/ps3.

Am having the exact same issues, it logs into my Skyrim, then at the continue screen, it keeps cycling through all the "tips" for 5 mins and never loads into the actual game. Never had any issue before today, is STEAM having issues? Why does it suddenly say I have 1 file missing? I havent downloaded any thing other than what I have purchase and that was a while back
ive restarted like 20 times. Literally re installed the game about 20 times. Same thing happens. Horses and wagons flying then dying making my screen spin uncontrollably.
When you reinstalled the game, did you manually go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common and deleted the skyrim folder? If not, some of your mods may still be present (which may cause this as you say it keeps happening). Have you also updated your graphic drivers? I think game physics are calculated with graphic cards (not sure on that but it can't harm to update your graphic drivers).
no un installed from steam. and how do I update my graphics drivers?
In case you do not know which graphic card you have, here is how to find out which one you have: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100103121720AAZRd8l

Then find the manufacturer's website (googling your card should get the answer which manufacturer your card comes from) and there will likely be a driver page (nvidia allows you to find it easily at their driver download section).
oh my graphics card? i have a gtx 690
Try this site then, Its the Nvidia driver site: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
just updated the driver but the game is still acting goofy.
go to the skyrim folder and delete everything, no hostages!

some mod could have done something and by only installing over it instead of deleting, it might still do something.

I had this flying and crashing once, but for me a simple game restart worked.
i went to control panel and un installed. doesnt that wipe the folders?
