Why'd Bethesda Get Rid of Dismemberment?
Fallout 3 had it - character models could lose their heads, arms, and legs, yet it's gone in Skyrim (except for decapitations). I wonder why Beth chose not to implement such a thing in Skyrim. It would've made for some pretty awesome kill animations for sure.

Probably to minimize CPU/GPU strain as not everyones got the nice hardware. Course I just finished watching season 2 of "Game of thrones" so... sure more gore! and meaningless sex! :D

Fallout 3/NV works on a fundamentally different combat system. Fallout (originally) features part targeting and hurting each body part can do a variety of different things (including groins, om nom nom the only way to "knock down" Frank Horrigan). That's why you can dismember people in FO3/NV.

If you want gore you got to play the Fallout games. But the Elder Scrolls series have never had dismemberment. Personally I think that you should be able to select dismemberment as an option, and leave it off if you want to. The only reason why I prefer the Elder Scrolls over the Fallout games is the dismemberment issue.

Because dead space 2 made them queasy, so they were only willing to go as far as decapitations.

Look for some mods on the nexus for that. There was one featured on Gophersvids that had all sorts of gore, chopped off body parts, charred corspes, ect...

Still beta but is promising. You can cut and crush body and head right now.

Because creating models supporting it is hard.

While I don' care about dismemberment one way or another, I'd like to see localized damage. It just looks silly killing an enemy with an arrow in the arm.

If it made the enemy drop his weapon, it would be even cooler. Great opportunity for sadistic amusement there: one arrow through each knee, each arm...

Not like killing a thousand people, right?

Gotta love moral lesson-givers in a game where you spend most of your time cutting people dead with your sword/axe/whatever. Newsflash: that ain't for real, boy.

And if a bugger tries to kill me on sight, he deserves an arrow through the knee.

Thank you for this, I have been hoping for just such a mod. I have 100% kill move settings enabled and set to 3rd person. It never gets old and I am looking forward to dismembering all who oppose me :D
