Alternative Lockpicking Mod(s)?
Does anyone know if there exists a mod that gives you alternative options to the vanilla lockpicking?

It's always a slight immersion breaker when I have a mage or warrior character who has all his/her appropriate skills but then is also lvl 75+ in lockpicking. I've always seen that skill as being more in line with the rogue/theif/scout/etc character type.

So yeah, are there any mods out there that have the ability to bash a lock open or use a spell on it? I recall someone did this for Oblivion.

Try this, a more popular choice complete with Mod Configuration Menu from SKSE.

Smash with weapons or spells, unlock spells, auto pick lock (cost tons more lockpick), force requirement to pick lock all configurable to your taste.
Thanks for the quick responses guys the Lock Overhaul mod is exactly what I'm looking for.
i like the lock picking , you really have to know how to do it , you cant just have a perk to make it easyier , just spend a little time pay attention to how it works , you will be glad you did , its pretty satisfifing to pop a master lock with only 3/4 picks
It's not that I hate the vanilla lockpicking I just would like a little bit more immersion and roleplaying. I'm not someone who starts up a Skyrim character and tries to do/master everything. I like my characters to follow the more traditional RPG class/types

I agree. Using a warrior or mage who lockpicks feels a bit off. Oblivion atleast had open lock spells, though it lacked something for the warrior style. Not everyone wants to make a hybrid class with thief type skills.
Exactly.

I hope the next Elder Scrolls shifts back to that kind of RPG-style.

I mean, having the freedom to do a little bit of everything or being given that opportunity to just turn around after ten hours and turn your warrior into a mage is nice and all but they should also really flesh out that more traditional style.

While you certainly can play Skyrim in that fashion and concentrate on only certain skills/perks the issue is that the world and the quests don't always properly support it. Next time Bethesda should craft their quests with a little more attention to detail concerning clearly different ways in which to achieve your objectives.
Does the Lock Overhaul need any other mods to work? Or are those mods just compatible?

Hello! RPG does not mean "Have enough stats you win" or that stuff. It means "Role Play". Playing the Role of someone.
Neither does it mean having a huge amount of freedom. You play the role. That is the meaning.
Like in KOTOR my Revan was named Arc Shadowmane. And in SWTOR my "Legacy Surname" is Shadowmane. That is Role Playing.
