Someone please make this mod
I have no modding exp with Skyrim, and frankly I don't have the time for it. However, I have a killer idea for a mod that I'd love to see in the Workshop. Check it out:

- Spawn the player in some house/castle/whatever that has some crafting tables and a merchant or three.
- Assign a number to every underground location in the game (every cave, interior location, etc) that has combat/excitement in it.
- Make it so when you walk out the front door of your house/castle/whatever, you get teleported to an underground location determined by a random number generator.
- Kill stuff !!!
- Collect loot !!!
- When you leave the underground location (etc), the player is returned to his house to sell, buy, craft, whatever.
- Repeat

This removes all the boring, repetitive conversations and quests (and the mountainclimbing!) from the game and instead lets you simply play the game like Diablo. It would have an almost roguelike quality, considering there are probably hundreds of underground locations available.

Please, I'm SO bored of Skyrim but I love the combat. Help me cut out all the blah blah and get right to the good stuff.

Someone should make a mod that adds a NPC who would sell the whiterun breezehome for 5000 gold besides having to see Proventus also without having to be thane of whiterun. When I try to see him the chat option say I want to purcahse the house does not show up when I talk to Porventus even when I did the jarls quest such as the battle of whiterun where I had to kill that dragon from that whiterun watch tower.

Your ideas are good too! ;)

But all of you wheren't the ones supposed to play and like Skyrim for is graphic and enviroments? Why cut out all the game just to make it a common hack 'n slash, much more of what is alredy now? If you're tired of Skyrim then get some mod quests, there are plenty on Nexus and Workshop. Or try to figure how the Kit works and make your own. Don't calli someone make an almost dumb game even dumbier.

Illgib: Because the hack and slash is super-fun, and this idea gives you a lot of variety. I play a lot of roguelikes and prefer this type of gameplay. The conversations and quests, however, are only fun a few times before they become a tedius/lengthy chore.

Less variety, actually. A lot less, since you're talking about cutting out like 90% of the game.

The mod I would like would be one that would skip all the pre-"get into the keep" Helgen adventure. The game starts directly with make your character, then you can skip to already being inside the keep and Alvor or Ralof cut your binds. Having to go through all the cart and executions and dragon and "stay with me prisoner" sequence is so boring, and then only to find your character is too skinny or his hairstyle crops through the helmet or whatever and it's back to square one.

Ok, ok, so it is not a mod for the masses, that is fine. Yes, the scenery is wonderful and jumping up mountainsides never gets old... The point is, this sounds fun to me and would probably not be that difficult for an experienced modder.

There's actually a built-in way around that. At least on PS3, it'll make a save, not an auto-save, right before you have to give your info. As long as you don't overwrite it, you skip the carriage ride at the beginning.

Actually, I think that would be an awful lot of work.

I hope that this is all sarcasm.

Maybe this is the wrong forum. I was hoping to get someone to author a mod that I would enjoy, not have a discussion about whether it was a good idea or not.

That's kind of the problem with public forums, if you post an idea, people will give their opinions on it. Whether you want them to or not. Especially if not.

Maybe Elder Scrolls wasn't an hack 'n slash some time ago? More RPG oriented and less "hand guided" where you have to count on your only strenght to make your way, with no markers pointing you at the quest objective, or lazy auto travel. There was a time where we use to walk along very big piece of land to reach that particular cave. And, you know? Was very fun indeed. I removed every icon, mark and easy help from Skyrim, travel only with horse and carriage. I can enjoy even more the game so. By the way, if the game would stop to crash every 5 minutes i could enjoy even more.
