[Solved] Skyrim on Windows 8 Lagging
I just bought Skyrim today, and I'm already experiencing technical difficulties. After I clicked the "new game" button, the loading screen was unbearable, and took sooo much longer than it needed to, after that, the "Bethesda presents, etc." went on, and once the game apperaed, I experienced MASSIVE lag (eg. Skipping Frames, low FPS.). I can't even play. I've tried multiple approaches:

-Changing the SkyrimPrefs as many others did: Didn't help.
-Using Low detail, and bringing everything down to a minimum: Again, nothing but llag.
-Finally I tried running in windowed mode, and that seemed to work: but I can only play in like 600x400 or whatever. And to put it into perspective, I have a 16:9 1920 x 1080 display.
-I even tried using a mod to play it in windowed mode without borders @ 1920 x 1080, and still it lagged.

I updated my drivers, looked everywhere on the forums, and nobody has been experiencing the same problems! Please I really want to play this game, but I just cannot. I'll post my specs:

Operating System: Windows 8 64-bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Memory: 12G RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Card name: AMD Radeon HD 7570

I knew there was something going on with the compatibility between Skyrim and Windows 8, but I still don't understand. It plays great in lower resolutions, yet, even when going to 1920 x 1080, it will still lag as if in full screen. Anyone else?

I rum mine at 1680x1050 just fine on Windows 8. It seems to run smoother on 8 too, then it did on 7.

There is no compatability issues at all.

Have you tried lowering some of your settings? One at a time to see what one it may be? Turned off mods? HD texture pack?

The 7570 is a low-end gpu, as far as i know. Unsurprisingly, it can't run complex 3d games with a smooth framerate @ 1080p. Win8 is hardly the problem.

I have Core2Duo, 4 Gt, GTX560, Windows 8 64 bit Pro, and system runs fine. Actually Windows 8 is better in Skyrim than my older Windows Vista. Apparently 8 uses less memory. Not sure.

I have fiddled around with the settings a ton, shadows, and all. As for mods/texture packs, I just installed it, completely vanilla.

I'm going to mess around a bit and see if I can't get it to sort out.

I have solved the issue:

I had checked my drivers many times before, and updated frequentely, and downgraded to test out as well. Finally, I checked them again and noticed an AMD Beta Catalyst. I quickly installed, and the resulsts were phenomenal; everything was in perfect working order, and was running smoothly. Usually I don't go for betas, or anything like that to avoid problems, but this time it was in my favour.

Lesson learned.

In case anyone ever encounters the same issue (it's a longshot) here's the AMD driver I used.

Thanks for the help people, very appreciated.
