Defeating Miraak

This is the information from UESP. This is why he will not die.

"The battle with Miraak is scripted. When Miraak drops below 20% health, he will become ethereal and head to the pool in the center of the platform. After killing a dragon, and absorbing its soul, he will regain full health and continue the fight. This cycle must happen twice in order to complete the battle. If you deal enough damage in a single strike or spell to bring him below 10% health, he will kill a dragon, absorb its soul, but will be unable to regain full health. This will cause him to stay ethereal, making the fight impossible to complete."

So, when his health gets low, like 40%, use lighter attacks so he does not get below 10%. :)

Wish i could say this worked but i already tried, i just used my fist and litterly the fight when on for half an hour where once he was done shooting out dialoge i hit him and he just did wht usually happens killed the dragon and stood in the center

You can fix it by killing another dragon for him at which point he heals and it continues. I had this problem.

[Ruca]Beowulf193 - If you simply can't beat him, just use the kill cheat. He may have a special scripted death, but maybe it will work? :/

used kill command wont work tried so many ways to, and cant kill the dragons except for the one that rides u there

I just used a Dawnbreaker the whole time; worked like a charm.

yep, i was a little concerned that he would infinitely spawn dragons but i figured it was unlikely there's no way to dispel his immunity so it has to end eventually, was my theory and he absorbed 3 dragon souls when i did it, not just 2
could be because i used a new character with 'normal' equipment for the fight
if you hit harder than a truck i'd advise using a weapon, or magic that you have little training in

It happened to me too. :-/ But eventually he went down for the second try.

I'm glad this helped some of you. For those who still got stuck, I'm afraid I don't know what to say. I purchased it the other day, beat it, and had no problems. :/

Yeah i am on my 14th try still no luck i eventually gave up and loaded a save from before reading the book the waking sleep and to just journey on. Tried all the tricks of the trades from internet and other people having my problem no luck. i have low level in two handed could give that a try. :P long message

I have a problem after I killed Miraak on the 4th try, I am now stranded on the battle Ground with no dragon to ride and books will not transport me. I have even tried jumping off the platform as a way to transport back to Book V and warp out through the other books in the other structures but I just re-appear back onto the platform any one have any Idea's. I still have around 7 more quests to do on the Island.

THan it wil work correcty boss battle :)

I will recheck but I believe I had all HD packs disabled I just did what Beowolf did went back to a save I could continue the game with
