"Unofficial Skyrim Patch" and Dragonborn: absorbing dragon souls issue

seeing as that this thread is getting necro-posted recently im just going to remove the heavily outddated advice that used to be here. please check the dates on posts before you bother to take anything from them. now back to dragon-slaying with you, skyrim isnt going to save itself.

~SPOILERS~Well, in the Dragonborn DLC, the freak in the mask~SPOILERS~jumps in and steals your Dragon souls and pops back out.

thats a gameplay ploy that is intentional in the game. this is a bug caused by a mod conflicting with DLC causing the player to no longer be able to absorb souls from slain dragons. That doesnt become apparent until you head to solstheim anyway, so far i havent seen the other dragonborn anywhere in skyrim, nor do i think that they would even show up there.

nice to know though i guess.

Guys. DO NOT uninstall the Unofficial Skyrim Patch unless you are also starting a new game or can regress to a save before you installed the patch. Otherwise you may end up with corrupt saves or other unintended problems either immediately or in the future. Just a heads up.

This. Wait a day or so. Do sidequests. If it is a problem with the USKP it will be fixed quickly. The patch effects scripts, uninstalling can corrupt your game.

Disabling USP is not a solution for me I disabled all my mods only dragonborn remains and reverted to old save(clean without mods) and still can't absorb them.

I never used any of the USP. Not for Skyrim, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, or Dragonborn. I never had problems with the dragons souls not absorbing, with the exception of the first dragon born stealing them like he is supposed to in the the story Mod wise, I use SKSE with the wet and cold mod, and showrace menu mod. Multiple hair mods, 2 of my eye mods, horse armor, and enhanced lights and effects. What mods were you running? And now I see Skyrim is Dling something so good bye SKSE for now,lol, wow that was quick.

I installed the Dragonborn patch after no souls being absorbed. Did not work. I deactivated, but did not uninstall, the USP and it worked. The only issues so far have been my character sometimes going through the weapon draw animation without actually drawing the weapons, which the USP fixed.

I've been running the other 3 Unofficial patches and have had no isses with souls not absorbing.

I feel the same way. A day one, Unofficial patch is a bit to quick for me. I'll wait a bit first. I want to finish a few quest lines before I go to the new area anyways.

I'd bet that if the patch team had waited a day or two before releasing the patch there would be people complaining about the delay. Too soon for you, too long a delay for others.

I'm sure this unofficial patch will be updated as new problems are identified, just as the other unofficial patches get updated as needed.

Prior to installing UDP you must delete dragonactorscript.pex, it fixed absorption bug for me.

I have been absorbing dragon souls just fine. Then I started the Miraak Questline and vallah he jumps in and steals them - what gives? Also is anyone else having issue with mining rock? BTW I am down to basically running a vanilla Skyrim and the game has been running smoother than ever.

this was an issue with the "Unofficial Skyrim Patch" which has since then been remedied by the unofficial Dragonborn Patch. Miraak is supposed to do that as its part of the game. if you are mining rock by just whacking away at it with the pickaxe instead of "using" the node you will run into issues with some nodes that dont really work that well with that way of mining.

Tl:DR - the issue is pretty much solved if you download the new fixes, vanilla skyrim works fine, sometimes you have to actually "use" the node.
