Dragonborn bug?

[Help.]

So I recently installed dragonborn and did the windcaller quest to go through the new content but have found this bug.

I am not sure if it is my mods causing it (which it shouldn't be as I have nothing that changes dragons in anyway) but I am not absorbing ANY dragon souls. Meaning some storylines are now unplayable including the new content.

I have not had this happen to me before so I am wondering if this is a game breaker from dragonborn or maybe a mod doing it?

happened to me too, i just wrote it off as the one that got away and moved on.

Kind of hard though if you had to do the windcaller quest to start Dragonborn content. All dragons are doing it = No main quest or any dragon related stuff.

You really can not be walking away from this bug though, it is game breaking.

Only hope beth fixes it really soon.

I started a new playthrough and found that I am unable to absorb Mirmulnir's soul, therefore cannot continue with the main quest. I do use mods, but never had any issues in the past. I haven't toyed around with the console commands yet. Kind of sketchy at this point. Might just wait until there's a patch. :(

I just installed Dragonborn and the only thing I had left to do on the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller quest was take the horn back to the Greybeards, receive the last word of the shout and get my awesome greeting. :) I did absorb the dragon soul given by Wulfgar and it unlocked the final word of the shout. I don't have any mods, etc installed. Did a clean Skyrim, Dawnguard and Hearthfire install yesterday and started a new character for the Dragonborn DLC today. I have not started any quests for the Dragonborn DLC. Was attacked by two freak cult goons but that is all I have done so far, LOL!

I just tried killing Mirmulnir again without the Dragonborn DLC in my load order and I was able to absorb his soul. Definitely a bug with the new DLC it would seem. FYI, I don't have any mod installed that changes any aspect of the dragons/souls/shouts portion of the game.

Same problem here. Fast traveled from High Hrothgar, met the cultists, started the Dragonborn quest, killed 3 dragons since then and all of them did not give any souls. The Bethesda guys told me to "Verify the Integrity of the Game Cache" and I keep getting the error message "1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired" all the time. It seems game is not updating itself or something. No mods here cause I'm a purist!

If you have the Unofficial Skyrim Patch installed, then you need to install the Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.

Also, any custom animation mods or custom dragon mods cause a ton of problems with dragonborn.

The technical guys from Bethesda are useless too. They told me my pc did not meet the standard requirements to run the game that is why I'm experiencing the bug. They told me I need to contact the manufacturer and see if I can get an upgrade. BULL-F*CKING-SH*T! I've been playing this game for months and no problems before this! In the highest settings my pc can support I might add! Getting the Unofficial Patches didn't work either!
Are there any confirmed fixes on the bug?

Try making a new character.

What I had to do to fix up my game was turn off all unofficial patches and make a new character.

C:\Users\<User>\Documents\my games\skyrim\saves

Delete any old/used characters.

It should fix it, if not then I have no idea what is wrong with your game.

cant absorbe any souls tried both with mods and dlc and with out any of them still cant absorbe a dragon soul so im either guessing its jsut the regular dragons you cant absorebe or its a major bug that cant fix itself

Not being able to absorb dragon souls is one of several critical conflicts between Dragonborn and *any* 'third party' content, including anything from the Steam Workshop, the Unoffical Patches, and the Skyrim Nexus. I've tested with and without DB, and with and without content not produced by BSW, and the bugs happen even when the only 'mod' I have active is the Unofficial Skyrim Patch.
Well done, BSW. Give the game community the ability and tools to make their own content, then sell an add-on that we have to choose between the new add-on or the terabytes of community created content.

He has vanilla and had problem with soul absorption off and on since DLC, so i got him this.

I have around 75+ mods and had no bugs other then one with Skyrim.ini uGridstoload(used for extended LOD), which apparently DLC can only use it in default value...otherwise it's crashfest as soon you walk out of Raven Rock..
