Save problem

Okay so I came into dawnstar and overheard the conversation between this mara priest and some dumb peasants so i decided to help him out. We went to nightcaller tem[ple on top of dawnstar and did some stuff there. Now I'm up to the part where I need to drink the torpor and enter dreamstride. Everything still works just fine. Now when i enter dreamstride if I quicksave or manual save the game just instantly closes. I've experimented with why it does this. I've ruled out my mods and even after i finished the quest it still does this I have yet to leave the temple however. Any ideas or solutions? Should I just avoid this quest? Is it fixable?

Dont save after you take the soulgem save before and then turn off autosave until you get out of Nightcaller temple. (the soulgem is the one keeping the forcefield up)
