I can't buy the childen's bedroom in riften or whiterun please help.
Every time i go to buy the children's room in riften or whiterun the option remains there and they take my money. I have already tried the unofficial patches and they dont do anything about( at least for me). How do i fix this?

I have the same problem; I also can't buy the Alchemist's lab in Whiterun. Having attempted to buy them both, and suspecting they both take the same space, I wonder if that is the issue...?

children's bedrooms are bugged in city homes. You should just avoid them, altogether. Supposedly, the update that comes out with dragonborn will fix the bug.

Okay, thanks. I have a couple things I'm going to try, but then I'll give it up, yeah... bummer, though.

I have that problem in proudspire and breezehome but not in honeyside, I could purchase that just fine. I do have the unofficial patches but they didn't help with the first two houses. I agree with BoPacker, just avoid them. I dont wanna sacrifice my alchem/enchanting/armory anyway. My kids and hubby are happy at my Lakeshore Manor.

no, you should be able to do that, unless you tried to purchase the childs bedroom and then saved it.

To fix the issue with the children's room I first typed the following in the console, which disabled the junk that was in the house when I bought it:

prid e4ef9
disable

And then the children's bedroom was shown correctly next time I bought it.

If you have an alchemy lab there you should try disable that aswell before you disable the junk.
Type: (editet, wrote the wrong id for the lab before, now it should be correct)

prid e4ec8
disable
prid e4ef9
disable

Hope it helped you aswell! I got the unofficial patched for both Skyrim and Heartfire.

This happened to me on Xbox 360, The issue was that if you buy the bed room or alchemy lab first the game would bug and prevent you from buy that or any other item on the list. If it let you buy items but not the bedroom and lab it would make the area where the two would be either a black/gray area, or nothing would be there except for a few barrels that you couldn't use and cob web around. So try and buy the other items before the lab and bedroom

Sorry, I wrote a bad ID for the lab before. Must have been my excitement when I finally got it to work. I edited my previous post.
Though, I didn't have a lab, only junk, so I cant confirm that it work if you have a lab. But i could enable the lab with the code "enable" instead of "disable", so I think it should work the other way around.
And I dont have Dawnguard, only Skyrim and Heartfire.

Is this for all the player houses? All of my houses are bugged in exactly the same way described here! Honeyside and Vlindrel Hall both have the child's bedroom/lab borked, where it shows me the option to buy them but takes my money without anything happening.
The same for the Living room in Proudspire Manor! I bought it, paid for it, yet the house still shows the junk and cobwebs as if I hadn't!
Are there any console commands to sort that? I found some for the bedroom/lab bug in Whiterun online easily but doesn't seem to be any advice for the same issue in the other houses!

You don't need to build a bedroom to have kids, instead you can use the default mini-beds built via the upstairs workshop.
