What Skyrim Quest Have You Outright Refuse To Do?
Skyrim Fans, let me pour my soul out to you, I am hooked on Skyrim and have put up with the many busted quest lines and crashes just as you have done, but I have not given up my love for the game or cool my appetite for more and it appears that you have not done so either (by the way, I am envious of X-Box fans getting the latest DLC first, but I am truly happy for them and its good for them and the PC users too, they will see all the bugs first and we PC users will appreciate their call outs and gain from their feedback). Anyway, despite my fanitical obsession with the TESV: Skyrim and all the DLCs, there are two quest that I refuse to carry out in Skyrim, I guess I am just a softy at heart. The first is the Blade's Quest to kill Paarthumax, I felt if it wasn't for this Dragon I would never be able to kill Alduin. Regardless of all the training I went through, Paarthurnax training and guidance were the ones that really count. I feel Paarthurnax was trying to change and deserve a second chance and I wanted that to happen. Unfortunately, the game killed him automatically (must be a major bug in this quest line). The second quest is within Boethiah's Calling, "Enthralling a Willing Thrall." This is the quest where you have to befriend a follower and make a sacrifice to Boethiah. I like all the followers, and none made me angry enough to offer as a sacrtifice. I think the Devs should have include some real nastys that wouldn't weigh on my conscions or give me nightmares after the deed is performed. What I did do is kill eveyone in the camp since they keep telling me how tough they were and that I was insignificant and showing their arrogance and superiority by asking me if I want to test myself against them. How could I refuse, hey I am the Dragon Born, so I accomodate them all. Of course Boethiah showed up and gave me the spill to make the sacrifice or my soul will wonder for eternity. Guess my soul is wondering now, because I have not finished this quest line. So what quest have you refused to do and why?

Did 'em all! Tho I did wait to kill Paarthurnax until I had all the shouts from the Greybeards, at which point they become useless. But you really don't get much from the Blades either, except giving up 3 followers to their service. Picking just one follower for Boethiah was tuff cuz some are just annoying. Calder's sideburns had to go... but really there's mercenarys that you can pay to follow and it counts, that spellsword at the Winking Skeever, he's kinda icky. Plus you still get to kill all Boethiah followers after. I always thought the DB questline was a bit dark for high fantasy... like, why would the Dragonborn also be a murderer for hire? Seems a little schizo, logically, but all in good fun.

I refuse to kill Paarthurnax, I believe the Blades' ultimatum was, 'kill the dragon or don't come back'... I never saw them again. As for boethiah, well.... I made a pact to complete all the deadric quests, so just recently having acquired Molag Bal's not so uber mace I gave it to a 'clone' of Sven (whom I dislike anyway) and proceeded to crush his face with the edge of my shield. I could have sworn I heard my lord sheogorath laughing far far away as boethiah possessed Sven wielding the rival lords artifact. As for the quests I refuse to do: The Thieves guild quest line, and for that I recommend this. (f u nocturdle)

No matter how much of a total a-hole I play, I never kill Paarthurnax. The Blades argument to kill him is weak - like Master Arngeir says, when Paarthurnax served Alduin, ALL dragons served him - they had no choice. The fact that Paarthurnax was the one dragon that first changed sides to teach humans how to shout means that he might have been the savior of humanity from Alduin's evil reign. Taking that into account, and also the fact that he is your mentor, I only killed Paarthurnax once out of the many characters I played, and after seeing how useless being a blade was, not to mention how dishonorable I felt, that character quickly got erased.

I also only did the thieves questline once to get the trophies - their questline gets really old, really fast when you have to do five missions per town to restore the guild (boorrrriiinnnggg), plus working for them means you usually have to end up stealing from you're friends - at least with the brotherhood you almost never kill anyone you know (I usually kill the dark brotherhood and the vampires too, but every once in a while I'll give in to temptation and have a character join the dark side - playing the dark brotherhood and the vampires can be fun and challenging).

Speaking of not killing people you know, I never do the Beothiah quest either - I just kill all of the followers instead. That quest and also most of the "evil" daedric quests I just ignore - I guess I (usually) just prefer to play the hero (at least as much as one can in this game - sometimes you're forced to be the bad guy if you want a questline to progress - oh well).

i hate the Daedric but i just have to have a few of their items, like Ebony Mail, and Savior's Hide.

Anything radiant. I don't care if I miss out on content because of it. Radiant quests are garbage and should never be in another game. The developers could've spent the five minutes they used making those lazy cop-outs doing something useful like castrating themselves for thinking they could even possibly be a good idea.

Not all the Daedric Princes are inherently evil. Sheogorath's quest concerns healing the madness of a centuries-dead emperor. Azura's quest involves stopping a group of necromancers from feeding a bunch of people's souls into her Star, then stopping the guy inside the Star from eating the souls. Sanguine? Drinking contest and a scavenger hunt. Meridia's involves stopping a necromancer.

So, yeah, not all of them are evil. Most of them are, though, especially Molag Bal.

As for Paarthurnax, even he admits that no, he can't be trusted, and he has to take great pains to make sure he doesn't succumb to his nature as a dragon and go insane, and that the Blades wanting to kill him is entirely justified.

Dude, did Radiant Quests kill your family or something? I can't think of any reason to want to heap that much hate on simple sidequests.

They might as well have. The biggest part of Elder Scrolls is the side quests, and radiant quests are abominations. For every ten of them, there could be one actually good side quest instead. It wouldn't be so bad if they were completely optional and unrelated to everything with their only purpose being to make a little gold. That'd be fine. No, they're necessary to access some real side quests. They're horrible. They're just grindy and in the way and will get nothing but resentment from me.

Really? Which regular quests require a radiant quest?

I'll answer that for you, none of them. Meridia's quest is the closest any sidequest comes to requiring a radiant quest, but it turns out the beacon can be found in ANY boss chest in the game, thus it can be started or continued though any side quest.

Seriously, though, chill out, no one is forcing you to do Radiant Quests, and they didn't take away any side quests in order to place an automatic quest generator in.

The main quest. I'm so damn tired of killing dragons every 5-10 minutes that I just can't bring myself to actually care about the terrible writing. I also agree with Infernisle about the radiant quests. It's an incredibly lackluster way of throwing out the same rehashed quests for the player to do. Most of the time, one or two words are the only thing changed. It's disappointing.

My character has insatiable thirst for power, and so I have done all of the daedric princes' quests. However, in Vaermina's quest, I chose to let the priest live against the wishes of Vaermina. In additon, in Namira's quest, I chose to kill all of the cannibals. I'm not one for tolerance when it comes to eating other people.
When it comes to refusing to do a quest, I have yet to complete the Blood on the Ice quest. The glitches strewn throughout it have frustrated me to no end, and so I have given up on ever completing it.
I've seen and done pretty much every quest, with exception to radiant quests, out there in Skyrim. In general, I'd say they're all pretty darn good.

First. There is a patch that will allow you to tell the Blades that you will not kill Paarthumax and they need to obey your wishes. It helped put that one to rest.
The one in Morthal where you bring this Mage back and he is trapped in the cage then you need to kill him. Not good. I found that one reprehensible.
Another one was the entire Dark Brotherhood quest line. In one instance you are to kill the new bride of some guy just to give him a message. Didn't sit well with me. I have not done the Dark Brotherhood since. My personal feeling is that the guys who wrote this are suffering from some serious moral deficiency in their character.
The rest of the game is good otherwise I would no longer play it if the entire game had way more of these kind of quests.

Yes, there is a MOD that can be downloaded that will keep one from bowing to the Blades wish to kill Paarthumax. Unfortunately for me this MOD came out too late because the game had already killed Paarthumax without any input from me. The only way I found out that he was dead, was when I made one of my routine fast travel visit to the Greybeards and at the time I was too far gone with other quest lines to satrt over again. The Greybeards basically tossed me out for killing him, I fast travel to Paarthumax perching site just to confirm that he was dead, lo and behold he was no more, just bones in the snow. Don't asked me how it happened, all I know is that the game killed him. The Devs strike unseen

The first time I traveled to Boethia, I heard the danger music and assumed that I needed to kill the cultists and commensed slaughtering them. After doing so, Boethia appeared and asked me why I had killed her followers, yada yada, she says that she would only assist me if I brought her a troll, never have completed that task but I suppose that you could use animal allegance or kill the troll and if your conjuration level is high enough re aminate the troll and have it follow you up to the temple.
