No Idea When Trespassing
In Oblivion, you'd get a red icon if entering an area would be considered trespassing. In Skyrim, you get nothing and only know you're trespassing (barring obvious situations like if you picked a lock to get in) if someone spots you and tells you to leave.

Anyone know of a mod that'd give you an icon, or red text, on the open door prompt if going in would be trespassing? Doesn't seem to be one on the Workshop, but my search-fu has always been weak...

Why pick the lock? You're Gumby. You can walk through walls if you want to.

All joking aside... I know stealing gives you a warning. Most all doors are locked if you would be trespassing. And often guards or NPC's will warn you that you're trespassing or tell you to "Get Out" before they take any action against you.

Where exactly are you having problems? (I've never really played a theif in Skyrim)

PS - I'm not aware of any mods like that off the top of my head. Though that does not mean they don't exist somewhere.
Mainly daytime, going in to unlocked houses to poke around for people who might have quests (can't be arsed to check the wiki for the entire list of radiants for an area).

If the house/store is unlocked then you can usually enter without problems BUT if you are still in the house after 8pm to 8am (outside normal trade/working days) then you can be classified as trespassing.
