Can you hotkey spells/abilities?
There was something I was wondering in the past 2 games there was some ability to hotkey a few spells/abilities to the number key.

Is there any way to do such a thing in skyrim without a mod to say set it so pressing a button switches to a certain spell in the right or left hand?

I know about the favorites menu, but it kind of slows things down when I keep having to go to it and scroll through whenever I want to renue a timed alteration, illusion, or summon spell and then switch back to the damage spell I normally keep in the off hand.

I am not sure I understand perfectly. From the favorites menu (Q) you can have access to any spell that you have assigned. For example, if from the favorites menu, you assign "5" to you fireball spell, then whenever you press "5" during the game, you will gain access to that fireball spell. Just press "5" and "fireball" will be your active spell.

pressing F to your desired weapons or spells...
press Q and assign a number to it

Okay didn't realize you could also give numbers to spells when you favorite them as I thought all you could do was add it to the list.

And if it's not enough there is a mod Hotkey Casting that allows you to create more hotkeys.
Although i recomend to use Categorized Favorities Menu[skyrim.nexusmods.com]. It's much better.
