Torture room knapsack
Is there a modder who can help me make a mod where the knapsack in the torture room, with the Book of the Dragonborn in front of it, becomes a non static so you can pick it up. Did no one ever think about where "your character" leaves all the stuff he or she picks up in that first part of the game? For realistic purposes I would really like to be able to grab that knapsack, put the book, lockpicks and potions in there and galop after Hadvor to the exit of the tunnels under the Keep.

well considering the amount of armor and weapons you can carry id say it better be a couple of Duffle bags to be more realistic I dont think you can fit that iron armor and shield into that knapsack lol!

You can carry quite a bit of stuff around. As far as armour goes, in the beginning, it is a case of throwing away some when you loot better pieces.

That's the thing, I don't carry it around ;). I take with me on my body what realisticly would be possible, like two swords, 1 dagger (in a boot for instance), a bow and 50 arrows max. That means if I find a better sword, I would leave the sword I have with me behind. In other words: I can't take the Book of the Dragonborn with me. Where would I stuff it? See my dilemma? If it would be possible to pick up that knapsack, things like that book and the occasional potion could be put in there. Does this make sense?

more like rolpeplay wise.
I have seen "the bag of holding" mod somewhere... that is the only thing that comes close to what you ask and that i know off. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=7378
I hopes it helps, i never use that mod my self.
And good luck on you hard core game set up.

You could always stuff the book under your chest armour.

Ye exactly @ roleplay. I'm working on a story and realism is rather important to me. She's not a superhero, but a person with flaws, physical as well. I'll look into that mod you mentioned and thanks :).

forget a knapsack you have pockets that have no limit to what you can hold it's all about you're carry weight which is unrealistic to.

I can't remember where I saw this most recently. Maybe Game of Thrones, Maybe Spartacus... But I saw somebody that had a large foot wide strip of leather that would wrap around a bunch of swords and hitch to the back like a back pack.

This is how they would carry around a bunch of looted weapons. When I saw it, I thought it would make for a good mod. You could carry at most 8-12 weapons (besides what you were using) and they would all be visible.

Would make a cool mod for Skyrim.

I just wonder how on earth you would be able to sneak with all that on your back and get close enough - without making a sound - to slit someone's throat. That would hardly add to the realism I try to create lol. And remember, I have a female character and even tho I believe women aren't any less to men in Skyrim, the weight of 8-12 weapons on your back might make it pretty hard to move smoothly in combat. My realism goes as far as switching into clothes when in town since I doubt that walking around in armor, stained with the blood and gore of foes, will make her a attractive person to interact with.

All the armours etc seem to have at least a little satchel on them. My headcanon is that those are little bags of holding.

You can make your own Knapsack at the Smithy by subscribing to the Workshop mod. If you carry a bow and arrows you can also get a mod that puts your quiver and arrows at the waist so there is no visual conflict. The backpack gives you an extra weight allowance of 150.

Ye I have those mods :D but I just figured how hard can it be for an experienced modder to make that first knapsack non-static lol. I'll just allow myself some literatured freedom in that part of the story about the knapsack and just have her pick it up. Thanks for the input Roscaria :).

I have noticed them on the Leather armor for instance yes, but never on the Imperial pieces you pick up at the start.

Just stumbled over this sort of dead thread, since I'm looking for the same sort of mod. It pleases me to see that I'm not the only one who's really strict on the roleplaying and realism. :P

That knapsack in the torture room (and other bags) is what is currently giving me a headache as well. It would make sense for the Dragonborn to pick this up when it's just lying around. But since I can't find any mods that allows for exactly this, I rely on console commands to fix this.

Hopefully this helps you to, if you still struggle with this:

What I do is that I find out the ItemID for a backpack that looks similar to that one in the torture-room. Closest I got so far is the "beige knapsack" which I think comes with the "Wet and Cold" mod (it's not the exact same color or size, but it should do).

Open the console, select the knapsack in the torture room (you have to get really close to it to get the correct selection), and then type "additem XX08B7C2 1" (XX = the load order number for the Wet and Cold mod) and press enter. Close the console.

If you open the knapsack in the torture room now, it should, along with the healing potions and lockpicks, also include a "Knapsack, Beige leather".

After you pick up all the contents in the knapsack, the model of the knapsack itself will still be there, since you didn't actually pick up the knapsack itself. What you do then, is that you open the console again and type "disable", which will hide the knapsack from view.

To me, this works as a pretty good solution until there is some mod that fixes this.

..

Oh, and the way you find out what the itemIDs are, is by the selecting anyone or yourself, and type "inv" in the console. The console will then list all the items the character is carrying, and what their itemIDs are.
