Unresponsive keys
I wonder if anyone else has this problem and more importantly is there a fix? Keys are sometimes (not always, and not most of the time, I must note, but with increasing frequency lately), unresponsive especially when I most need them (in combat). At first it was only the Z key for shouts. I need a shout and I hit Z Z Z Z Z Z and nothing. As soon as the battle is over, Fusrodah! Now its also the mouse 1 and 2 button (attack). I click click click and nothing. Sometimes it seems to be after some interactive event (door, chest, horse, etc).

It isn't anything with my keyboard or mouse, I assure you. It also isn't that I get nervous in a battle and fumble the keys, before any such thought crosses your mind. It's something with Skyrim.

Well...since this is a seldom request...and millions play might assume that the problem stay on your side of the field.

For the Z key...try to bind it to another key...I find that x key is better to hit.

You might also try to rebind mouse 1 and 2....but not sure if that would help......if your mouse has batteries...are you sure they are up to the task...or maybe need a change?

As I said, its not the mouse or key itself that's defective, its something in the game itself that sometimes causes them to be unresponsive. What works sometimes is going into the menu and deactivate then reactivate the item (be it shout, sword, spell etc) after I close the menu usually its fine but this is cumbersome.

Yea...understand that.....but have you got another Skyrim then us other?

Since Steam update every game to the last version...we all have the same game.

What we NOT have the same is equipment, running programs and mods...they are different....and here is the thing you must investigate.....maybe see if there is an upgrade for your mouse software :)

I am having a similar issue as well. The key for primary attack (left mouse button) seems unresponsive while secondary attack (right mouse button) is responsive. Sometimes shouts are unresponsive as well.

Strangely, this bug seems to pop up most in combat, but is rare when not in combat.
I am wondering if the code that describes the player's attack is somehow being used by enemy's code, and there is a delay in processing the statistical calculations. Possibly two functions trying to access the same variables at the same time or something.

Does anyone else have similar delay/unresponsive keys while in combat, but not or much less so when explorering/not in combat?

Yeah that's it exactly. No problem out of combat. Usually right after opening a chest, door or coming down from a horse, if you find yourself plunged into a fight. I play lots of other games including Oblivion and Morrowind and have no problem with my hardware there.

I've got the opposite problem. While I'm on the inventory screen, the keyboard will not function (except the "E" key.) As a result, I can't drop items, put them in chests or give them to NPCs, learn new shouts, recharge enchanted items, etc...

This is actually a common problem with bethesda games (at least, I know for a fact that I've had this problem in fallout 3, fallout new vegas and oblivion a couple of times but mostly fallout) Basically, when the game is processing a certain amount of stuff (lots of enemies all in a small area around you) the game has a hard time keeping up with everything and you end up trying to fire and fire (or stab and stab) and nothing happens.

I've never really had this problem in skyrim though, but it sounds like a typical symptom of being a bethesda game to be honest.
