Low Sound Volume in SKYRIM
My machine config is as below.

AMD Athlon II X2 260 Processor
Asus M4N68T-M LE V2 Motherboard
4 GB DDR III GSKILL 1333MHZ RAM
ASUS Radeon 7750 1GB DDR5
Via High Definition Audio (Onboard soundcard, passes all tests in DXDIAG for sound)
500 GB Hard Drive
Windows XP Home 32 bit

Yet I am gettting a insufferably low volume. What should I do. When I had initially installed the game the volume was OK, but in the past 12 hours the volume has dipped very low for some reason.

Sound in other games like DOTA 2 are fine.

Can anyone suggest a solution

Xarin.

This has always been a problem with Skyrim. Some people have suggested fixes, but none of them ever worked for me. My only suggestion is learn to live with it, because it's obvious by now that Bethesda isn't going to fix it.

go on ur desktop. right click your volume thing, then goto Playable Devices, right click Speakers, propertys, then on Enchancements, click Loudness Equa., that should make the sound loud, if that dont work then you need to update your sound card driver, i can help with that too if you cant get it by ur self

It sounds like your problem has more to do with system setting if it was running fine before. Also you may consider this mod...

Sound propogation Overhaul
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33740

For the most part it simply adds effects that came with game but forwhatever reason devs didn't turn on...(guess for console compatibility) there are more sounds based on what armor you wear durface etc....but it uses stuff that came with game. He has one that increases volume.

If you're still using onboard sound I highly recommend getting an Asus Xonar sound card, you can get one for like 50 bucks or under that will go toe to toe with some expensive cards, and it does 3d positional very well.

But what he said above is likely best fix for your sudden change.

I have switched to Windows 7 and then did the louldness equalization thing, the sound level did get boosted by an inch but it is still not OMG lould. I am pondering whether getting an ASUS XONAR - DG (which is only one in my budget) can solve the issue further.

BTW it works better on Windows Drivers for my onboard card as oppossed to the latest drivers provided by my motherboard manufacturer.

EDIT: Tried out my new headsets and I found a significant difference in the quality of sound. The bass is just amazing. I am loving the music at menu screen. EPIC.
