What magicka spells do you find yourself using the most in tight situations ?
When I learned FIRE BALL it was almost as if all other magic skills became obsolete. I mean when you have a good pool of magicka and the most effective, fast, radius damaging, destruction spell, what else do you need to do but back up and fire away.

Summon atronoch. Doesn't work so well against some higher level magic users, as they will turn your creature back on you, but it's hard to look down on reinforcements-in-a-can. Also has more tactical uses than a straight up destruction spell, since they can be used to control the battlefield a bit by dividing groups, drawing aggro, or just plain old meat-shielding.

Edit: I should clarify that I roll with a posse of 2-3 companions (any more is game-breakingly OP), so I can't rely on splash damage or AOE spells without risking friendly fire in most circumstances.

I use Fire Ball a lot along with ice spike. I also carry a Chain Lightning staff and a Frost Atronach staff. These seem to be enough along with Lydia's Ice Spike staff and Flame staff.

Invisibility with -100% Illusion spellcost enchantments and muffled boots. When you're a ghost that causes your enemies to go insane and kill one another you don't need reinforcements or meat shields.

Good points. Conjuration may take more planning in my opinion, but I see how I can be at a defensive disadvantage if I mainly rely on destruction.

I have been known to run around casting healing spells on myself and trying to not get hit (when things go really bad). Run little chicken Dragonborn, run! Then find some where they can't reach or find me so I can snipe them.

Yes sniping is great fun when your follower is causing the distraction. Gives more time to poison arrows and use destruction spells.

Summon Demora is my favourite. I wish I could play a demora in game. I had Sanguine as a companion once (using AP mod with my female character) but thought I better not tempt the fates and reloaded the save just before entering his party for the staff, that and his stats were just soooo weak (15 across the board). I just wanted to see if I could get him as a companion and wouldn't it be awesome to have a daedra as a companion - even if it was one of the weaker ones.
