The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Where did the Depth go?
Oblivion had some Depth to it, not as much as Morrowind but it still had some. Skyrim has nothing to it sure they put some dragons in it, a couple reskins of the same dragon.

what you mean with "depth" ?
things to do outside of Quests, a Skill system thats more than a Gui Change from the MassEffect Skill system. you know Depth
Kinda wonder that myself what he meant by depth. Never played morrowind so i cant say that it had "depth".*edit*(ninjad) Umm you do know that in skyrim there was alot of options for perks. Also if the gui was just an edit it would be alot more linier in its design.

if you wanna know how Morrowind was Play oblivion and than think of what it would look like with more to do. all there is to do in Skyrim is Quests. sure you can make armor or swords, and sure they can also be enchanted, but why are both of those things so small?

Skyrim just feels so Small, i don't mean small Map i mean small game, there is no Meat and potatos in it.
And so what were these things outside of quests that Morrowind had that you missed? And also just want to know what the point of this question is? Depth can't actually "go" anywhere so you seem to be posting this just to get a defensive response from people.
Consoles. We'll never get bored of stating this. Everything went downgraded to please the conscoles players, and make the game playable over this elderly pieces of hardware. I feel less depth in Oblivion too, and i think that in some way was worse even than Skyrim, i mean there was no plot and everything where solved in a "stay here and watch everything happens, but you're not allowed to understand what's happening", Skyrim where plot luck too, but he tries a little, failing in many ways, but he try. Is still enjoiable, but nothing compare to Morrowind, that's for sh.hure, he was pc exclusive for a meaning!

it is true skyrim does something better than Oblivion but outside of Story its like there is nothing new. sure we have dragons now but they are not that Fantastic.
Games casual as ♥♥♥♥, thats where the depth went.

There would've been a time when I agreed with you about this but my opinion has changed.

It's all about accessibility.

Now that it tends to take MILLIONS of dollars to develop a AAA game the industry isn't screwing around. They want to ensure that a game with that kind of financial backing sells well and makes a profit.

So how do you do that? Well, not by making it a complex experience that only RPG fans or veteran gamers can enjoy. Instead you make the game as easy to approach, control, and master as you can so that everyone from college frat boys who only play Call of Duty to 50-something year olds trying a game for the first time can feel comfortable with the game.

It's unfortunate that things have turned out this way but it definitely helps to remember that the gaming industry is just that - an industry - it's a business and it's about making money. When you have to dump incredible amounts of cash (during an economic recession) into a project you NEED to make sure you make money off it, otherwise it could literally be your company's downfall (example: 38 Studios).

all of what you Say is true, i Agree with you that they are out there to make money. thats why the new Tomb Raider game has 20 $2-$4 things you can buy for it on steam. it is good for them to make money but it is slowly Killing gaming in general, or i should say Killing the soul of gaming, at some point there is not even going to be more than unique 1 Game per Genre. every FPS is gonna be COD, every Racing game is gonna be Forza, and every RTS is gonna be Starcraft.

nothing we can do but play Indies
i also miss the depth from morrowind. There was so many things going on that u could just spend so much time in all the various skills that u just became part of the charachter u created. U became more part of the world too since all those skills all had its place in the world. U could make use of it and it affected others that was in the world. In skyrim u just get quests when u interact and thats pretty much it. i miss the various individual weapon skills and the diffficulties in the beginning of the game (i got killed by rats and those flying birds untill a few levels higher). There was also a much greater consequense of the actions u did which often involved much more to be able to finish the quest (for instance u gotta be able to levitate, kinda hard if ur a warrior type). and i miss the impact the lore had on the population and the varios towns and cities. like i mentioned...it involved so many things which made the game alive and full of DEPTH.
i don't remember did Alchemy even make it from oblivion to Skyrim? i knew it was in Morrowind but i never really got into it, i played it when i was too young to understand some of the stuff in the game. after i tryed it again when i was older i loved it.
all companies want to make money .

but bethesda give you more stuff to do than many of there competitors(go count total quest in skyrim vs missions in other games other than gta) .

any complaint about dlc is funny since morrowind had tribunal and blood moon and oblivion had shimering isles and knights of the 9 . they always give us atleast 2 dlc packs for any TES since morrowind . its not like they all of a sudden decided to start chaging us for random stuff cramed into dlc packs there not capcom lol

Well, outside the story there's combat, and skill progression that actually matters(Instead of, congrats, you've reached blade/blunt 50. You can now slash/chop sideways!). The stealth had a major facelift as well. The only thing I can actually think of that was better done in Oblivion, was that they still had spellcrafting. They introduced some pretty interesting spell effects(such as ward spells, elemental side effects and not just touch/target spells).
So far you've only stated things were "better" in oblivion, without actually backing it up with actual fact.

Seriously? YES. Alchemy made it over, and this further shows the "shallow" arguements that you present. Now you're actually complaining over a feature that is ACTUALLY in the friggin' game.

What I think he means is that some of the parts of Skyrim weren't really memorable or useful, such as Alchemy, in his opinion.
