Try verifing your game cache that helped me. On it could be a mod conflict.

In fact it is probably a mod conflict
Grand Nagus Zek 24 de Oct, 2013 a las 17:18
From my experience it may be a mod Conflict, Check to make sure you dont have two mods that effect a simular or the same thing.

After that check to see if there is a pattern to when it happens, Certain events or entering certian locations.

If that doesnt work i would attempt lowering the graphics settings and seeing if that helps.

Hope i have been of some help

F5 is the quick save key. Should make it easier for you to save.

I have the same problem and i respekt you. this started happening to me after i got the dlc. might be a dlc conflicting with some mod or something considering.

Like some people already said it might be a mod conflict, they may do the same thing.
It may also be a mod that just don't work probably, so whenever an element from the mod is about to be loaded into your game, your game CTD. So you don't see the mod element at all, before it's about to come, so you crash before that happens.

So either look for mods that may conflict and turn them off one at the time.
Or try figure out which mod that might not work correctly.(As in when the game crashes)

that means that the DLC must be incompatible with one of my mods. therefore i want a list of dlc incampatibarabahabla mods now.
EDIT. im also having problems realising what mods actualy load. those data file names a re very confusing.

Most mods tell you if they are compatible with varies DLC.
You need the correct mod version for the DLCs you have.
I'm afraid there is no list, because it's a case of figuring out yourself, but as new mods come around and mods gets updated most modders announce what DLCs it work with.
For instance the Deadly Dragon mod.

For the secound part you talk about, then it's pretty much trail and error. You do this by testing the mod, ingame if it actually works.
About the names, you will learn in time I think, most mods have names related to what they do or their name.

i know that much, but! mods dont get deleted when you unsubscribe to them. therefore 98 percent of the mods i have installed are not on my subscription list. also. when you loook at your data files you cant realy see what the mod is actualy called. i have that problem with 40 percent of em. no real math. just consideration.
Edit: i think it was bordersenses fault. i used to have problems with it i just remembered. and hopefully that was the cause. testing right now.

As for uninstalling mods.
The only "true" way of doing that is by deleting your entire game, and reinstall.

However normally save the zip files of each mod, then I look for what things the mod placed, and I manually go delete each item that the mods install.
Works fine for me however it doesn't clean your game completely, I believe some scripts might still leave things behind.

But you should always make a backup copy of your skyrim folder before you start add mods, saves a lot of time for later.

My game crashes to the desktop any time I fast travel. Don't think it's a mod conflict because I haven't gotten a new mod in months and it just started happening. Any ideas?

I have no mods installed but my save game will crashe the game after 5 minuts.... My save game is 50 mb large; I think i have 700 hours played for nothing -.-*
Rabbler 26 de Oct, 2013 a las 19:16
Skyrim apparently has a 3.1GB (ram) memory max limit, so if it hits that peak, it will fall over and boot you back to the desktop.

Here's a video on it:

And here's a possible solution if you want to try it:

Either your DLC was not installed correctly, along side with Skyrim. Maybe..
Or you have some mods that conflict with the DLC you got, now as for mods that conflicts with DLC I am completely blank. Since I don't use any DLC myself, for that exact reason.
You have to spend a lot time researching about this, some mods dont work with some DLC and some DLCs dont work with some mods. You have to look every single combination up betwen DLC and each mod you use, it's a lot of work.
It takes a lot longer if the mod owner haven't informed anyone because he himself don't have that DLC, so you have to go further than just the mod info.
May I ask what DLC you have?
