Vampire
So, are you a vampire or not? What do you think of the blood drinking race of undead that has roamed Tamriel for so long, terrorising or dominating mortals?

Whats your choice in the TES series? have you opinion of them ever changed?
I myself love vampires, the are the scurge of the night or the guardians of ages.

And whats you favorite vampire character in game?

All are dead, good that there is someone that like all vampires.

Seriously, why is there so many people hating vampires?

The main Dragonborn – not a vampire. Never was, probably never will, that werewolf fiasco did make her a little suspicious of such offers and she appreciates a good night sleep. And although that immortality package look very tempting, but that Sovngard silverware will be hers (was kicked out before she was able to unstuck it from the tables, so have to return somehow and being a vampire will make that difficult).
Most vampires are a fair game – community service, valuable ingredients and nice loot so all her Guilds will be proud (although did feel a little guilty about that Haemar Shame thing). She failed a spot check with Sybille Stentor at first and now thinks that killing your teacher is Bad Manners (Kodlak what have you done to my psychopath with your ideals!). And Serana – BFF! And killing your friend's mother is Really Bad Manners (blame Paarthurnax, learning empathy from a dragon, a Skyrim dragon to add insult to the injury).

As for me – we saw a glimpses of not a “bloodsucking monster” vampires in a previous games, but in Skyrim we have a chance to interact with them. So my opinion of them did change a little – will not kill on sight in future games (that can end badly). Now they are a tragic monsters for me – most of vampires we see are a predators full of bloodlust. Maybe because vampirism ultimately is a daedric curse, maybe because of the human nature (the most terrible monsters in TES are humans I think, lets not add real life), maybe because of the psychological reasons – you have to distance yourself from your previous believes to survive (age helps).
What makes Serana so unique for me – she still have her empathy and do not see humans as cattle.

That said, in future game it may be an interesting experience of playing one. But the availability of a cure (an easy one), makes it a little cheap.

P.S. To save some space change "humans" on mer, man and beasts.

What fiasco with werewolfes? what does it mathers when it commes to being a vampire?

I personally dont buy the sovnguard stuff, All drinking mead and fighting all day. It seems so boring after a while, what to do? another fight! Then? mead! then? fight, and food, food fight!
Then? More mead?

And I am a bit ♥♥♥♥ed of Shor right now for the Alduin affair, he STOLE my dragon soul! I got Alduin all down and he just sucked it up in a great ray of light"!
Imagine the power of Alduins dragon soul! Its would be the most powerful dragonsoul in Tamriel, the firstborn dragon!

To use later or some vauge reason. I bet that Shor just was afraid, afraid of another Talos amongst them, afraid of what the dragonborn would become with the soul of the first dragon-
After all, Tiber Septim become Talos after his time. But he didnt absorbet the greatest dragon of all time!

If you are the good character. But we all know how difficult to be a 100% character in Skyrim. And even if Dragonborn was able to stay good, what about Serana?

No doubt. I've encountered all sorts of grey shades in this.

Its really hard to stay all good in the game, I agree, its like they made it impossible on purpose, there is several quest that you will totally miss if you go all good, no alternative or something, just ignore the quest forever-
Or like with the dark brotherhood, do that sub storyline, become the leader of the assassins, or..... kill them all. End.

Ok, first off all, English is not my first language, so writing and spelling checking takes some time and where are some problems with making myself clear. I apologize for that in advance :)

Now to the topic.
“Werewolf fiasco” - for me, the gift of beastblood was not a gift. It was one of this deals than you think that you will get something awesome, but in the end you loose something fundamental and not appreciated before you lost it and do not need that you got. You pay for that strength and speed and freedom and being an ultimate hunter by the lives of other people. And then you eat them, sometimes alive. And after one restless night you understand, that you are better at killing in human form. That all that power – you already had it. You are weaker than you are a wolf. And you are not free. You just added another chain to your collar (Little Prince reference here :).

And vampires are quite the same – offer of power. What is the price? Loosing yourself in bloodlust. Becoming something unhuman. And I think that the “nice” vampires like Serana is something unique – if my Dragonborn would become one, she would be something out of nightmares. She is not a good person, granted she is trying to be better, but she is not nice. And another temptation is the last thing she needs.

^I agree about that, werewolfes are weak compared to a hight level charachter,
And I actually roleplayed that my character lost all humanity, I run on a rampage for about 3 days, (used wait some times)wasent able to revert back even after waiting for hours. Killed all bandits and people on the road, and used commands to spawn in more people to slaughter.
But after the 3 day, I ran on the coast of Solitude, a guard walked calmly on the road, when I run upto him he didnt react and he just continued patroling.
I did use roar right to his face but he didt bothered with me, that made my charachter come to senses.
After that I did rid myself of that curse.

But about vampires, I myself think of me as a kind vampire, a bit cruel at times, but in the end a nice person.
Comming of age is something that changes a person, makes them wiser and more experienced, I think that a vampire character can add that. Old and have traveled all over the world, seen things, talked to all kinds of people and bether understand others than you can get in a normal lifetime.

and I am non english myself, so sometimes I might look like a 13 old with my spelling and gramar.

Sovngard. “Fighting and drinking” is pretty much my Dragonborn is doing now minus the drinking :) As for being dull – there must be library somewhere or all that mages will become bored and you do not wish to deal with the bored mage. And Kodlak was planning that little expedition to Hyrcine Hunting grounds, that will be interesting, no? Also, fighting and even drinking sound more attractive than going to some daedric plane of Oblivion. And is Sovngard not a training ground for heroes preparing for the last battle (can mix my lore here)? Also, some of that heroes look very nice indeed ;) And if you will become really bored, well, you can try to make some visits to the other plains (Molag Bal and Mehrunes Dagon need some trolling).

Shor taking the Alduin soul. He can have it “royal gesture”. After all, there will be other dragons and no matter how powerful World-Eater is, you just proven yourself stronger :) And, who knows, may be if you would devour it you would get serious stomach pains. Or have to become the World-Eater yourself. More work?! Seriously, can anybody in Nirn do something without Dragonborn help? -_-
Margonian 21 Eki 2013 @ 11:38am
^ Well I have to agree that nothing is more dangerus than a bored mage.
It seems more fun when you put it like that. And I agree that it dosent look promising with being a servant to a deadric prince, Or Sithis for that mather.

I dont really think the dragonborn will get a stomach ache by eating Alduin. Meaby have to rest a bit after the meal.
And there is allot of stuff the dragonborn can eat, allot that is poisonous. Giants toe, spider egg, deathbell, Jarrin rot, saber tiger eye and 30 cheese to name a few.

Did have that rampage thing also. Not on such a grand scale and it started in Silver Hand fortress, but it was terrible. Was able to stop before killing the innocent farmer family.

So than Harkon started his little speech, she remembered the Circle and the answer was "no".

As for gameplay – honestly, my Dragonborn is powerful enough as she is :)

P.S. Appearances can be deceiving on Internet but the stuff you wright about... you are 99% older than 13 ;)

I was a member of the Order of the Virtuous Blood in Oblivion and had lots of fun hunting vampires and making a killing off of their ashes (How could they even tell how many I killed from the ash piles anyway? Couldn't I just give them little piles and tell them I killed more than I really had? Whatever.)

In Skyrim, my character rejects being any kind of monster. He cured himself as quickly as possible once he was cursed with wolf blood by that damned Skjor. I really wanted to beat him upside the head and tell Kodlak what he was up to. So becoming a vampire was out of the question as well. I always carry a few cure disease potions just in case I run into a vampire and catch the disease. My character doesn't want to live forever. He wants to some day join his ancestor, the Champion of Cyrodiil, in Aetherius and have his family members revel in his triumphs. Screw the Nords and their Sovngarde. It's too damn cold there.

Serana is fine by me as she doesn't harm anyone who doesn't deserve it. The rest that I find off in the wilderness who attack people on sight? They get to become dusty little piles of ashes.
