YES!!!! Definitely pick both up, play these before skyrim, and you'll understand whats happening more, and appreciate how far TES has come. I loved Oblivion to death, and loved morrowind, as well as skyrim. Even without mods, each one spans hundreds of hours of content. Get the GOTY edition for morrowind and oblivion, as well as skyrim legendary edition, all of these has the dlcs. I'm pretty sure Oblivion GOTY has all the dlcs (Actually, i'm wrong, its the Deluxe Edition).

Yes, they are worth getting. You don't need to play them first however, but they are worth it. Not as advanced graphics, but still very playable.

daggerfall was great, but it was so different then morrowind and oblivion. it's worth playing, but its an extremely different exprienece.

The earlier in the history of the Elder Scrolls games you go, the harder it is to play and get used to the mechanics. I would say Oblivion plays most similar to Skyrim (No double wielding though). I personally consider Oblivion the best game in the series based on how easy it is to play, the quests are far superiors to most in Skyrim and you get a larger variety of environments including some very cool planes of Oblivion (like Shivering Isles and Mehrunes Dagon's realm).

Morrowind is harder to get used to. The difficulty is much higher but more immersive and the world is completely different. No quest markers or other aids for the non-initiated.

I would say Daggerfall and Arena are good if you're expecting to play games from the early 90s and earlier. The stories are ridiculously good in all the games and in these older ones you can travel into any region of Tamriel, although there is not much to see considering everything is a pixellated block.

I absolutely recommend both.
And if you happen to be a bit iffy about how Morrowind has aged, you can check out the Morrowind Graphics and Sound Overhaul (MGSO).

Absotively, posilutely! You should play them in order in fact. Three of the most immersive games ever!

If you are really into the RPG feel and depth Morrowind is the answer, so many options it will blow your mind. Compared to Oblivion and Skyrim it is way more in depth and paly the way you want but the learning curve is a bit more steep...Oblivion is just wow well after you have played the older ones it was so beautiful and different but you can tell it was tuned down a bit and now Skyrim is more action RPG but still a very good game, so yeah all of TES is something you should play.

Yup, i recommend both. They are really fun. However Morrowind will have a steep learning curve if you did not play it when it first came out.

I'm playing my second playthrough of Oblivion right now with the FCOM mods.
I can say the combat mechanics are horrible, when compared to Skyrim. I feel like I am playing a slapping contest.

Other than that Oblivion is pretty fun.

If you play Morrowind you must not disable Cliffrunners. You must overcome then and become stronger as a person for it.

these games are definitely worth grabbing

Morrowind was life changing! One of the best RPGs ever! As a much older game, the graphics aren't as pretty as Skyrim but it is still completely worth playing. The music was stellar, one of the few video game soundtracks I listened too. I use to put it on as I went to sleep and dream Morrowind!

I would recommend Oblivion. The story is better than Skyrim's and the environment feels more alive (more because of location than graphics, but there are good mods out there).

They are both worth playing regardless of which 1 is the most popular, which in my case is Morrowind.
