Legendary Edition cheaper than buying all the DLC seperately.
So the problem I have here is that I already own the original version of Skyrim on its own and want the DLC, but it is cheaper to buy the legendary edition on its own instead of purchasing the DLC seperately. If I already own the original version of Skyrim can I purchase the legendary edition on steam as well or would that not work?

† Note: You already own the following items in "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Legendary Edition". You will not receive extra copies of these items when you complete this purchase:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Just went to do exactly that and while it may work, it will not give you an extra copy of the base game. To be safe, you should copy your save files to the deskstop. Then, if you have to uninstall base version and install legendary, you should be able to replace those files to play the game from where you were.

Okay.... I did what he's asking. It did a quick download for the game and it tells me that I have the DLC. How do I confirm that it is installed. And Hook2h8 is right, you don't get and extra license for the base game.

@soulhex When i purchased it Steam downloaded it automatically. You'll notice a few things in the game to confirm the DLC. Immediately, cultish came looking for me to "Start Dragonborn" and there was talk of the Dawngaurd among the NPC city gaurd.

Right click Skyrim in your library. Then click on "View Downloadable Content". It'll bring up window to let show you if you have it.

Just to confirm, did it work? Can you buy the legendary edition to get the dlc if you have the regular edition?

That works fine. Legendary Edition is just the bundle name, if you purchase it you get everything from the bundle that you don't already own, in your case all the missing DLC.
