My 7970 is freezing up on Ultra Settings...
Specs :
i5-4670k processor
z87 ASROCK mobo
h100i cooler
sapphire radeon 7970 vapor x ghz gpu
8gb ram
840 pro ssd
650w corsair psu

Its happened twice now, haven't been able to get more then 40 minutes of gameplay in. The screen just turns to this green kind of screen and I then have do a hard-shut down. I had updated gpu/cpu drivers. Even had to lower my oc down to about 30-40 MHz and still it did the green screen freeze.

Anyone ever experience this?

So is it only hapening on Skyrim or does it happen in other games?
It's turned pink for me once, but that was only once. I'm running two 7970s.

It happens on more demanding games such as BF3, Trine 2, and from time to time but not often at all, Dota 2. I am trying to find a solution for it at this moment.
Do you have any idea what the temperature gets up to, i had a card that done all kinds of crazy stuff on the screen when it got a bit hot, might be worth looking at f you haven't already.

From what I've found, the problem is overheating. This is a pretty basic problem with AMD products. I am now looking into a cooling system for my gpu to lower the temp as well as lowering the noise.

It's actually not if you have any airflow in your case.
Also a good idea to use something like MSI afterburner, set the temps that your fan kicks in manually, normally my fan wont go 100% until it hits 90c, thats too hot, i have it to kick in at 60c.
Take off the case and give it a good blow with compressed air to remove the dust first.
Its quick ,simple, and could help save you time and money.
Thats my advice.

A simple solution might be getting a dust cleaner and blowing some of the dust away. I'm not kidding - your computer relies on airflow for cooling, so dust buildup can really affect it.

In other words, what traykey said.
