Which side did you choose, and why?
And by "side", I mean the imperials or the stormcloaks.

Personally, I chose the Stormcloaks, because the imperials ♥♥♥♥ me off, what with their puny light armor and one handed swords. And also, general tullius was a snobbish ♥♥♥.

Only with a united Empire can the Thalmor and their Aldmeri Dominion be stopped. Sure for now the Empire is complying with the Dominion, but thats because both sides are building strength for the next war. For them the Stormcloak Rebellion is great cause it weakens their enemy.

Im Putting off the Choice as long as possible, on one hand I Like Talos and the stormcloak uniform, but on the other Ulfric is arrogent and racist. I'll probably join the Imperials later and just Evicerate every last Thalmor in Skyrim.
Piece of Piss (No Monitor) 21. nov, 2013 @ 5:01pm
See, I think they should've had a 3rd option to just wipe out the Thalmor. With both imperials and stormcloaks to join together.

Honestly, the thalmor are pretty weak. Light armor, Usually die with one or two swings of my greatsword.

And yeah, with imperials in charge, talos worship is banned, which is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If that kinda crap happened today, there'd be a revolution. Although Ulfuric might be racist, the imperials have their fair share of treating people outside of cyrodil like crap, too.
TrustMeImRudy 21. nov, 2013 @ 5:10pm
Thing is they have to balance choice with storylines that will exist beyond just this game. So they had to have a civil war, and the history Ulfric has made and the people he has ♥♥♥♥ed off makes them joining together impossible at this point. Thalmor here are weak, and they are just a few soldiers. Imagine their elite armies...

Hey Imperials agreed to the White-Gold Concordant with a reason. They fought and bled and nearly lost a war to the Dominion and that was when they still had Hammerfell, HIgh Rock, Skyrim, Cyrodiil, and whatever Dunmeri soldiers had escaped the ruins of Morrowind. With all that power, unified under one Empire, they still almost lost to the Dominion, so they had to make a treaty then, after they had beaten the Thalmor's army, then when they had a moment of strength or risk losing that momentum and the Thalmor deciding treaties werent necessary. So Talos worship was banned but the Empire didnt really enforce it cause they love Talos and didndt care everyone wanted to worship him. Then Ulfric made a big fuss about it at Markarth and the Dominion was like, nuh uh no worshipping allowed, and they demanded the right to enforce the ban in Skyrim, where before everyone just did it without telling any suspicious elves. Now while individual imperials might be racists, and many certainly look down on the other races [that said, every freakin race looks down on the other races] they also firmly believe in equality. They think they are the best but that everyone deserves a chance to shine, something no one else does.

Well, Ulfric is a racist and a bit of a ♥♥♥♥, but I chose Stormcloak. Why? Because we don't an entire empire to defeat the Thalmor. The Redguards did it all on their own and if they can do it, then imagine if the Nords allied with them, and if we managed to get other races too, like the Orcs or the Bregons. Also the Thalmor are banning something that's real. If you ban something that you need to have a believe in, like God, that's fine, because there is no definite proof of his existence. But Talos is real and there is evidence to back it up. So banning him is like banning grass. It's a stupid idea.

Good point, but I beleive the dragonborn would wreck the Thalmor's ♥♥♥♥, regardless of who's side he's on.

redguards beat them? Really? I didn't know that, where'd you find this out? I haven't really played any other elder scroll game, tbh.

♥♥♥♥, if the redguards could beat them.....hell yeah. Nords > Thalmor

"The Redguards did it all on their own and if they can do it, then imagine if the Nords allied with them, and if we managed to get other races too, like the Orcs or the Bregons"

You mean if all those races worked together they might be able to beat the Thalmor? You mean like...an Empire? Thats what the Empire is. And the Reguards didnt beat the Thalmor. Full story is the Empire and the Dominion fought, the Dominion was winning, but the Empire did this last ditch attack and managed to beat their army in Cyrodiil. So they made the treaty then, from a position of strength or risk the Thalmor getting back up and finishing the Empire off. The Redguards didnt like the treaty cause it called for a large piece of Hammerfell to be given to the Thalmor, so they seceeded from the Empire and fought back. They didnt win against the Thalmor, they fought to a draw. And they didnt fight a Dominion at full strength, they fought the bloodied, beaten armies that had been hurt while blooding and beating the Empire. When they hit that draw they ALSO made a truce with the Thalmor, although we dont have info on what the details of that truce is.
And while the Thalmor want everyone to think Talos isnt real, they know he is. But he is a replacement for the god called Lorkhan who instigated the creation of the Mundus. Lorkhan was killed, Talos came up to replace him and so he reinforces reality, which the Thalmor want to destroy so that they can become gods again.
Sorry with the walls of text, but its hard to explain in less than a few paragraphs :P

So in conclusion, Empire! Woo! ...but Argonia is gonna come out kicking one of these days.

i've joined the "screw both sides"-side, for obvious reasons.

Since I am from the Southern USA, I always go with the Stormcloaks the rebels so to speak.

thaofficialcameron 21. nov, 2013 @ 6:42pm
The imperials "Puny light armor" is better than the stormcloaks armor, and the stormcloaks never were heavy armor (pretty sure the commander armor for them or whatever is light) whilst the Imperials do sometimes wear steel.
Two Bears 21. nov, 2013 @ 6:44pm
Neither. My only real grievance about Skyrim was that the decisions made in the Civil War questline had no real consequences. I played through it once; ignored it every time after.

I wish there were a third option: Rule Skyrim as the Dragonborn.
