Best Archer Armor, Lore wise?
I've been playing as an archer, and I'm level 10 now still using leather armor. I was wondering, the best gear for playing a archer, without ruining the lore of an wilderness man.

I use fur armor. It doesn’t offer much protection at base level and later on doesn’t profit from the matching set perk, but I think it suits playing as an archer with good sneak abilities well. The fur armor with sleeves also seems logical considering the climate of Skyrim. Plus it looks cool.

I like hide for the same reason as above. Just give it the same stat line as glass in the contruction set and you are set fot the whole game. My girl uses alteration and no armour for the bonus to the armour spells. Currently she has about 270 armour with a shield and the spell goiong.

Forsworn Armor if you want to go for the wilderness look in vanilla Skyrim. Particularly good on beast races.

Yep it is also a good choice.

Well if you plan on doing the Dark Brotherhood questline at the end of one of the quests you'll get rewarded with the Ancient Shrouded armor set, which includes a cowl (hood) that allows for 35% more bow damage. All the items can be upgraded too if you have smithing skills. Also it's worth practising your enchanting skills on armour because you can "fortify archery" on any of your items, although that takes time to get good at.

I dislike is because its so damn ugly, but do use enchanting to increase resistance and fortify archery. The triple damage bonus in sneak and the extra criticals are well worth having. My girl is at +80% from the archery, 3x when sneaking from sneak and about another 50% for various enchanted items. She is level 40 and has sneak, archery and enchanting over 80%

Yeah I'm not mad on it personally either. I always forget to switch to the cowl when I'm in the middle of a quest too! lol. I'd much rather fortify archery on my own choice of helmet.

the best armour is any armour that you enchant with 7a0fe 7a0fe after drinking an enchanters potion bumping it way up in archery damage

I usually end up wearing the fur set of armour with a fur hood, circlet and the Saviours Hide along with a fur cloak made from the first unfortunate bear that crosses my path :) I use climates of tamriel and the Frostfall/winter is coming though so anything else just isn't warm enough :)

If you want gear that's +archery there's Krosis and Gauntlets of the Old Gods. There's also a mod called Dynamic Loot which will increase your chances of finding enchanted armor on NPCs.

As for aesthetics, I really like Ashara Princes of the Woods mod:
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18008/?
The gear has a high armor rating (dragonscale equivalent) so it holds up later in the game. There are both male and female versions.

For female characters I also like the elven scout armor:
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/46650/?
It has armor rating of glass armor.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
I'm going to try them out.

The gauntlets of old gods I mentioned early (which are +archery) are a Forsworn item. Boots of the old gods are also +sneaking which can come in handy.

I would suggest DreamBurrow's Regal Assassin Armor[skyrim.nexusmods.com], but in my head "archer" and "assassin" are two different terms. If you're playing a more shady type of archer, it's definitely very fitting.

Someone also posted the Bosmer Armor Pack, which is brilliant as well (and probably more appropriate in your case).
