did you try remove shadows?

i rarely miss them when i turn them off in some games and they cost a lot of GPU time.

You've already been told in your other thread that your laptop is way below the minimum required to play the game. You need a new computer.

Will the alienware 14 work?

For sure, Alienware is one of the most popular computer/laptops in the world. Maybe even the #1 Gaming Laptop//Computers in the world. If you can't get that, I'd recommend you to get a really good Dell Computer or ASUS, they are one of the best computer.

You can also go to www.ibuypower.com

That has a nvidia optimus GPU; ie: it can use the slower Intel GPU or faster Geforce.
You will still get "ok" performance, as that ALienware is the bottom tier gaming laptop [the best gaming laptop they make is the m18x].

It's most likely using the INtel graphics. You need to go into your graphics control panel and setup your card properly.

If in doubt, call Dell Support [Alienware].

Alienware is overpriced garbage. Build your own computer. Much cheaper and you can get better components.

He doesn't have an Alienware. He has a four year old Toshiba Satellite, and his graphics are GMA 965.

Popular, yes. #1, not even close. The configurator for an M18 only goes up to a quad core 4930mx CPU, there is no SSD option, only holds two drives. You can order a Clevo with a 4960X six core CPU and 3+ 1TB SSDs.

And if he bought a really good Dell, it would be an Alienware.
