High end PC Bad fps.
My pc has a GTX 970 and an intel i7 4790, 8GB ram and I cant get above 5 fps on ultra or low settings. I have 0 mods installed. This is a very new computer and skyrim is the first I downloaded to test out my PC, so there shouldnt be any issues storage wise.

is it using your GPU or your integrated chip?
Does your GPU have correct power cables attached?

can you try a different game to see if your hardware works?

you need to install your GPU drivers it seems
pallor Dec 25, 2014 @ 3:51pm
Yeah, go to the NVIDIA website and install the drivers for your graphics card.

You checked the driver for your nvidia grafics card?
You also can look in the hardware menu of windows whehter your grafics card is intsalled correctly. If it is ,try to deacivate your integrated grafics and try to launch the game again.

device manager
Hank Moody Dec 25, 2014 @ 4:09pm
I Go to device managers now what? Elaborate
Silvermane Dec 25, 2014 @ 4:16pm
Well, my device manager has an entry called Display adapters. When I expand it, it says NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770.

The fact that the game says Microsoft Basic Render Driver means Skyrim can't find your video card.

Why not just go to the NVIDIA website and install the latest drivers for your graphics card? I think the NVIDIA website has an option to detect your video card. If that can't find it, then you may have a hardware problem.
