People; MAN THE F**K UP
A: If you don't like paid mods, don't buy them
B: People put a LOT of effort into making some of these mods, they have EVERY right to be paid for it if they wish, providing it's a reasonable price.
C: All of you complaining about this are some of the most immature, whinest people I have seen online, and I have watched my 11 year old cousin play CoD
D: Sure the system isn't perfect, and the mods should have to go through some sort of verification of content process before they can be paid but seriously guys, you are overreacting beyond all belief. I am seriously dissappointed in the gaming community right now, I thought we were more mature and could actually resolve our issues in a civilized way, I see now that it is only a select few that decide to think before they rage.

if they want money for their content then they can file for job applications at game studios and use their mods as resumé

BE A MAN BRO, DROP THAT SISSY KEYBOARD AND PLAY THE REAL SKYRIM. Which can be yours for a nominal fee.

I just plan on making my own mods for my own game if needs be.

Hell, the only mod I ever used was the mod for killing the annoying kids anyway.

Far as items go, I'll just use free tuts and TES to make my own gear, I did that last year and it worked out quite well.

I just posted this in another thread but,

In all seriousness, saying "oh people just don't want to pay" is an oversimplication of this situation (not that modders ever minded that people didn't want to pay, as it was done to expand upon games and not for profit). With the way the current system is set up, both users and modders are shafted, as modders receive a 25% cut, don't receive any money until raising $100 of their cut, and will encourage mods which will raise the most money for the least amount of effort, amongst other things such as a lack of copyrights for mods leading to theft and a lack of quality control on the workshop leading to garbage pesterware and IAP-esque mods.

A tip jar where a user can control how their payment is distributed to the three involved parties would be infinitely better.

You don't understand don't you?

Once this passes through , other companies will pick it up , other games will accept this policy too.

A cooperative modding will turn into a competetive modding.

So do you think modders are all mad that since 2002s when they passionately created mods for each other that they didn't get paid for that? Come on boy.

Haha - for the past 13 years they've just sat in their dark dens. No heat. No AC. Forced to mod away. Just hating life.

Most modders are actually against this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anyway.
I've read threads on a page that shall not be named (you know, where you get the mods that nexus doesn't want for some reason) and all the mod creators I've read from there strongly dislike this and not because their "adult" mods won't make it onto Steam anyway.

What are freelance workers and indie developers then?

If they want money for this hobby, which is roughly the same as writing fanfiction, they should probably find a new one.

And by the way, it's not just assets that often are reused by modders. Back in the day when I created levels for various PC-FPS titles I used to look at other people's levels to learn how some complex mechanisms or neat designs are done. So I reused their ideas and their inventions too and I really doubt it's totally different with mods for Skyrim nowadays.

Do YOU have any idea how complex this is? Mods were not made solely by their authors but often received extensive community help in the way of bugfixes et al. There are even mods that depend on other mods.

This isnt even addressing that a good majority are OUTRIGHT being STOLEN?
