Skyrim crashing

i have skyrim for the pc on steam, every time i play it works fine the first time, then i log out and wait a few hrs to play again cuz i have things to do, when i try to play again it stops and crashes before it gets to the games main menu screen. then i have to unistall and reinstall steam and the game. is there a way to fix this so i dont have this problem?

i havnt been on steam in a year or so because of this problem, which didnt start till after i updated steam to current version of that time. any suggestions?

Are you using old saves from a year ago? Perhaps with mods from a year ago? Have you checked if those mods are up to date, current, and in correct order, ie run BOSS? Or are you just starting a new game, just getting outside Helgen? Could use a lot more details.

i have no mods as of yet, and i had so many saves that moving took forever so i deleted them all. even with that take care of i still have this problem...the only save i have now is brand new where iv escaped the cavern on my way to riverwood
