Skyrim Crashing in Win 7
My Skyrim game is crashing in Windows 7. I will try to play it and I can get the starting window (where I can examine the data files and check options etc) but when I click Start Game the window disappears and the game doesn't start. Any advice?

Thanks

are you running any mods?

That and is just skyrim or do you the dlc's as well ?

I tried taking all of the mods off and the DLCs also. I am in the process of reinstalling the game after deleting it from the computer, though I don't know if that will help

I just found out precision x program, was causeing the same problem. until i downloaded and installed rivatunerstatisticserver v5.4.1.5669 update (riva tuner statistic server comes with precision x (by evga for nvidia evga cards)

one can verify simply by closeing precision x (that is of course if you are runing it)

I would think any utility program for video could cause it to crash. the rivatuner program dispalys fps etc. on the screen. and obviously was causeing a confilct.

windows 8.1 64 bit system is what im playing on

I have a gigabyte GTX650 Ti, so I don't think I'm running precision x nor rivatuner. I don't have any utilities other than the graphics drivers (Nvidia 335.23).

Same! I've not be able to play for a while, but a couple months ago it was working just fine. Now I can't get into the game at all.

I'm trying reinstalling the game now, I'll post on here if it does anything.

You've likely already tried this, but I was having a similar problem with Skyrim just not starting at all. Exited out of Steam, started Steam back up & logged in. Verified Intergrity of Skyrim game cache under local files ( from properties ) and after that completed, it started up fine.

tried that

i just fixed mine. it was a driver issue with my Graphics card. Hope you find your problem out bud. like I said I havent been on my pc in months and am just getting back on. And she runs nice with the updated drivers. Maybe try a driver updated if you havent...

I've tried both of those now, so the drivers are fresh and steam is updated.. I'm hoping it'll just start up once it finishes the reinstallation.

It worked! I must have had a corrupted file or something. Thanks everyone for your help!
