I can no longer play skyrim when i try to open it, It never opens anymore.
everytime i try to open it, it says (something) error, i've tried everything, deleting appcache, then reseting the computer. ever since I installed SKYUI and SKSE version of skyrim, i can no longer play the regular version of skyrim (steam version in the library.) does SKYUI mess with the original version of the game or something?

Does running it from skse_loader still work? If so, why would you need to run Skyrim without skse anyways?

For a start SKYUI needs to work properly through SKSE (third party launcher). Do not start game in steam has icons in SKYUI will not be loaded.(read to description on it).
Run TES5Edit, OK to list game files as its loading check the right hand list it will show your errors in game like - background load = error also states where the error is. Then you can find and remove offending file or fix.

EDIT: I played around with some ENB stuff the other night went into game instant crash remove thoses mods, still happen. Use TES5Edit which promptly terminated itself with error 2 (Late atnight). So I ran it again this morning to where error comes up and read the line.
'Back ground load for Falskaar = error 2' and applicication terminated.
Went to NMM, knowing I hadn't activated the mod but is in NMM mod list, activated it all good to go. Rerun TES5Edit, all back to normal.
One of the mods had a reference to Falskaar in it files even though I deactived it the was looking for it.
It was Realistic water 2 where you tick the box for Falskaar, so simple, so easy, big mistake when the mod is not activated.

You need to start Skyrim with the SKSE launcher not the Play button in Steam as you would normally do without SKSE. You should have SKSE shortcut icon on your desktop. Use that.

SKSE is not a different version of Skyrim, but yes, you do need to run the game through the SKSE launcher because otherwise SKSE won't be working and anything (like SkyUI) which depends on it won't work either, which will obviously cause problems.

You also need to have Steam open when you run the SKSE launcher, because otherwise it will start up the regular Steam launcher (can't remember why, but don't do it, just open Steam then run the SKSE launcher).

If you have Skyrim(SKSE) icon on desktop you can start the game there do not need to be in steam.

I am a very ungeeky person and do not know what SKSE and SKYUI are, but I do know that Skyrim won't start whether I start from my desktop icon or from Steam. This is a fairly new occurance and it does not do it every time, but when it refuses to start, then I can't play that day. I have tried re-booting my computer as someone suggested, but that doesn't work either. I have not installed anything either. Please help as it is very frustrating. Anyone got any help with persistant crashes too?

I am not computer literate. I find that whenever Windows updates on my laptop, Skyrim won't run, until I restore the computer to where it was before the update.

When your computer gives you an error message and you're trying to get help you should say what the error message is verbatim. Saying that you're getting an error without saying what the error is just opens you up to ridicule and prevents anyone who might want to help you from doing so.

Error messages are almost always descriptive.

True, and there are places to look up the error messages too, like my favourite, Error Message 80.

Try the various troubleshooting things on your computer, like incompatible programs.
