SKSE auto-installer? I must know where this can be found! I've had the same problems installing itself too!

it's literally right next to the download. just look closely. it's in this order:
installer, 7z archive, (readme, whatsnew, latest forum thread)

Also, how can you tell if its installed correctly? Is there a little text thingy on start up or something?

Not sure why any of you needed an installer. If you could read then you could put the files where they needed to be.

If running SKSE, you actually run the skse_loader.exe which is in the skyrim folder. If you just load up Skyrim normally, skse won't be running.

It did not work because you did not put the files where you were told to.

That might be why it wasn't working. I only load up Skyrim through steam, not from the folder itself. You sir, are amazing. You can go on the list of people I *wont* assassinate :D

You can make a desktop shortcut for the SKSE launcher, and if you use nexus mod manager, it auto detects that you have SKSE and has a drop down thing to choose which launcher to use, and defaults to whichever you used last.

If you use mods from Steam workshop, this is also a good way to avoid auto updates (which are not as beneficial as they sound) BUT, it also won't install new workshop mods until you run the normal Steam launcher, watch to check if anything was unsubscribed (sometimes a mod might be taken off the workshop - removing mods mid game can cause bad things), open data files if so and tick whatever it was, then exit and run SKSE as normal.
