"Skyrim Launcher Has Stopped Working" - Please Help
Whenever I try to run Skyrim, I get an error message that says "Skyrim Launcher Has Stopped Working" it tries to find a solution, but then can't and all I can do is close out. I have researched and tried everything, I've deleted every file anyone's told me to, i've reinstalled, i've validated the cache, I've literally tried every fix. Every time I check the cache though there is one item that fails to validate, and I don't know how to get it working. It's a shame that this happens and that there is nothing I can do about it, I'm on an Alienware X51 that should have absolutely no trouble running it. I am not really a computer wiz, I just wanted to try Skyrim on the computer after playing on my xbox. All it's given me so far is a headache, taken 40 dollars, and wasted lots of my time. If someone could help that would be great.

Have you tried to go to C:/programs/steam/skyrim and right click Skyrim Launcher exe and choosen run as Admin?
It can also be your firewall that prevent Skyrim and steam to talk together, they must have that option since Steam are the protecction.

I tried running as admin and disabling all firewalls but it unfortunately is still giving me the same result.

Had same prob - I did what Rhuto said (run as admin) and also STart Menu/Rightclick Steam/ Troubleshoot Compatibility then just did whatever it suggested. When it said to CLICK to start game (from within Troubleshooter) Steam started up. This was just now.

I have tried everything, with no avail. I've tried to contact Steam but they haven't been of any help either. Really disappointed with the whole experience.

Longshot - try resetting your Steam login password... This has happened a couple of times to me and, through the process of trying the above methods, I also reset password... Dunno if things came good because of that, or a combo, or cos 1 of the methods addressed the issue, but they came good.

Forget the one file missing, that your graphic card and the game finds those settings when you start game.
If you can get to data window of game
If you have DLC's, patches etc?, make a list as you have them installed in game data.

I'm not really sure what you're saying, but I click play from steam and it pops up the start screen but at the same time the error message. Steam has done all the downloading and/or patching, and I haven't downloaded any mods.
