The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Vezi statistici:
New character: no buying, crafting or stealing. Any tips?
Using Skyrim Unbound have created a Nord who starts off in the wilderness with just rags.

Am going to play without crafting, buying, enchanting or stealing kit and just use stuff I find either in the environment or looted from the bodies of enemies when questing. And no murdering people for their possessions either.

Using Frostfall too so I hope I find some warm clothes very soon.

Has anyone else played like this? Any tips?

Skyrim Unbound is an alternate start mod that allows the player to:

• Skip the opening Helgen sequence
• Choose your starting weapons, gear, and spells
• Select from dozens of starting locations in every hold, city, town, and inn (and more)
• Set up mod options and create a save point before character creation (if SkyUI is installed)
• Toggle dragons, random dragon spawns, dragon soul absorption, and shouts
• Choose whether or not to play as the Dragonborn and avoid being forced into the main quest
• Play through the Civil War quests right from the start of the game

It also edits NPC dialogue across Skyrim in order to eliminate references to the player ever having been at Helgen and other characters won't recognize you as the Dragonborn unless you've started the main quest.

I'm doing a no crafting, use what you find build right now, and am having a blast. I'm not even using training, so leveling is very slow, well, I have a mod that slows it down too. :) I don't use Frostfall, but I often RP that I can't travel at night (vampires!) or need to eat and sleep. Are you using mods? The ones I'm currently using converts Drelas' cottage into a player home. You still gotta kill him, but now his stuff isn't marked stolen. I also have the alchemist's shack converted. Again, nothing fancy, just adds a cooking pot. Some tips if you want them...

1. Don't spread yourself too thin skill wise. My current build is a very simple 4 skill build (heavy armor, block, one-handed, archery). The nice thing is that you can be skilled right off the bat. Pick whatever skills you want, but keep it simple, no more than five skills. I chose a Breton for their magic resistance. Any race will do, Nord is good for their battlecry at early levels and 50% frost resist. That's one less element you need to worry about.

2. Don't fast travel, or severely limit it. Oh man, do you find a ton of free stuff when you don't fast travel. People randomly try to kill each other all the time in this game and then they attack you.

3. Cutting wood for most inkeepers gives you a free bed. :) Chop some wood for Hulda, she's great and gives you a fab noble bed for your efforts.

4. Brawling with people usually gets you a follower or a free bed, or even a free horsey. So put up your dukes and get swinging. :)

5. Doing favors for people can get you a free bed to sleep in. This is important for Frostfall, though I've not used it. Finding shelter, food, and warmth.

6. Bounties are great quests for people like us. They wear fur, fur is warm and tons of free stuff, including food and usually a place to sleep too. :)

7. Grab the atronach stone. Weird yes, I know, but you get 50% spell absorbtion. This is no little thing cause in addition to absorbing 50% of mage attacks, it also gives you 50% absorption to dragon attacks, spider bites, bears, wolves, skeevers, and sabre cats. Now, that's what I call useful. Whether Warrior or mage. Honestly, it's right up there with the Lord stone as THE best standing stone in the game, if you're not concerned with leveling.

8. Consider turning down the difficulty. You are no less a gamer because you don't play on Master or Legendary. You've set a lot of limits for your toon, playing at default difficulty isn't a horrible thing. At least until you get your bearings. That is when I start. By end game, I've usually cranked it up to feel more balanced, but in the beginning, don't sweat it.

Where did Unbound drop you off? I've used that one a few times, that and alternate start. Hehe, the left for dead option is too fun. I was once dumped right in middle of those sulfer flats in Eastmarch, where all the sabre cats, wolves, and skeevers live. I had to run/fight/beat my way to Shor's stone.

Above all, have a blast. There is absolutely no wrong way to play the game and the no crafting build is always a great little challenge.

Thanks for the great reply. Really good stuff there. I shall ditch training too and enjoy slow level progression. Unbound dropped me off close to Cold Rock Pass and a dragon spawned more or less immediately. Very tough start, I ran and ran and ran and then happily led the dragon to a couple of giants who killed it.

Oh you opted for immediate dragons. Hehehe, good times. :) Yay giants and mammoths! I have them do my dirty work all the time.
