Can my gf use her save on my skyrim?
We were just wondering that could she copy it, and transfer to my pc so she could play it at my house? She's played it for about 90 hours at her home, so starting all over again is not really an option :D

Should be fine, assuming you both don't have mods, or she doesn't have mods, or you add whichever mods she had that you don't. You might want to use a profile manager (I think there's a mod on the Nexus called sthg like Savegame Manager which I've heard good things about) or at least create a subfolder for each of your characters in the Saves folder, and each move your own saves to that folder when you finish playing for the day (then you can just move the last three or four back to the main folder when you want to start playing).

She don't have mods, i have the unofficial patches, and couple dlc's. Jaysus swords, and some.. cloistered temple dungeon which i took as a test sometime ago.

I guess those really don't interfere with anything if those mods get's added to her save "all of a sudden"?

Sounds like you two should be fine then.

traces of those mods will remain in her save files forever once she starts playing her game on your setup which will in future damage her save file if she decides to go back to her place and play it again.

This isn't necessarily true. From the mods OP mentioned there should be no lasting effects if they decide to remove those mods so long as they're not actually in that dungeon they mentioned. Otherwise the weapons will simply be removed and so will the dungeon.

Don't think the unoffical patches are harmless. They have ruined my saves before. Who knows what will break when you remove them mid playthrough.

Depends wether you had saves on before the unofficial patches were added. Add them half way through a play through suddenly you get stuff which wasn't showing the first place but are in the game originally.
The unofficial patches correct those issues but you in your gameplay, you have missed it therefore causing glitches, eg. can't complete dialog, activate something because a trigger was missed earlier etc.

Tell her to downlaod the exact same mods just to be safe, so that she can install them whenever she wants to go back to her own computer.

Use Mod Organiser or Wyre Bash if the profiles are gonna have different mods.

PC with no mods ---> PC with mods = no problems

PC with mods ---> PC with no mods = problems

This is a horrible idea. Regardless of the mod, it will be baked into the save once loaded on a system and saved, and if it's loaded into an install that doesn't have those mods, bad things start to happen. Doesn't matter how harmless the mods may seem, it can lead to file corruption.

If swapping between computers is needed, make a second vanilla install and let her use that.
Afro_Sama 25 Nis @ 11:31pm
Listen to me TC, the mod managers I mentioned are pivotal. Why have a second install of skyrim when Mod Organiser / Wyre Bash can allow you to have different mods (or no mods) active in different playthroughs, characters, profiles (whatever you want to label it).

I'll look into those MO/WB, best to be sure. Haven't transferred her save back yet to her pc, so don't know what will happen with that.
la_nague 26 Nis @ 5:52am
you can just deactivate the mods on your pc when she plays her save.

I really think you'll be running into some serious problems running two accounts on the same computer running the same application. You're going to seriously get badly corrupted files.
If you want to avoid those headaches, you're going to have to figure out how to install her account in a completely separate directory.
