shall I go for imperials
I might go for imperials finally. I knew they wanted me dead initially but so did stormcloacks in the Helgen dungeon. I found most Nords rude, ignorant, arrogant and barbarian, that "true Nords/sons/daughters of.. " made me really sick, let alone that old ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Rxx ice-eye in Windhelm. But there are some factors concerning me if I choose to side with imperials.
1. Does it affect any achievements?
2. I heard if I don't help Nords then later there will be a bug in Markarth if I go to Talos temple, like being arrested over and over again. Is that true?
3. If I help imperials, will it affect my thane fulfillment in Windhelm or any other Nord-affiliated holds?
4. Are there any other concerns if I go for imperials?

1. No, all CW related achievements can be gotten on either side
2. None that I've experienced, but that sounds like it's related to the forsworn conspiracy, which is unrelated to the CW
3. Nope, but it comes later for the Imperials. You can become Thane after helping the Stormcloaks for a while, but have to complete the Imperial line and take Windhelm to get it there.
4. None that I know of.

Isn't Ice-Eye part of iNPCs? The guy who married his daughter? I know he's s sick ♥♥♥♥, but should iNPC characters count? Actually, with the level of detail they put in them, I think they should.

@vaxusvaxu: game is about equal for each side. very similar progression for the main questline. I chose to stay neutral for a very long time and did other quests until I "felt comfortable" picking a side in the questline... YOU are the only hero in the game. neither side is "more honorable".

I have reached lv81 and still stayed neutral. And if I don't pick a side, I won't have the house in Windhelm.

Pfft, go Imperial. Just because Ulfric Stormcloak is a dickmunch who was a Thalmor agent.

I typically always delay the whole civil war storyline til I've done absolutely everything else on a character and by that point, I usually just end up starting a new character anyways. Point being, I rarely actually get to the point of picking a side.

That said, I almost always go Imperial when I do. Its definitely not a clearcut choice but to put it simply, against the possible Thalmor threat, Skyrim is definitely better off as part of the empire, rather then a newly independent state.

I don't think he was ever an agent, as such, they tortured him and probably influenced him in ways, but I don't think he ever (intentionally) did anything for them? They've got him listed as an 'uncooperative asset'.

I have quite mixed feelings on Ulfric, but same goes for the Empire, tbh, they are following a path of appeasement and allowing Gestapo, I mean Thalmor agents free reign to abduct Empire citizens and torture them.

This post has a decent analysis of the infamous Dossier http://eldersouls.com/topic/1866-is-ulfric-stormcloak-a-thalmor-spy/#entry13992

(This is all fairly obviously spoileriffic if you haven't done the MQ, but hopefully anyone reading topics about Imperials vs Stormcloaks has already done the stuff that could be spoilered in a discussion thereof.)

Well both sides are not ideal ... however I like the imperial jarls better except for Maven ... however If you have the mod destroy or disban the thieves guild that shouldn't be any problem

No problems with the horrible corrupt little Siddgeir? That's unusual! I know Dengeir is a paranoid old kook, but at least he's not a weasel. I generally don't bother with the civil war on either side, current playthrough is a Stormcloak based in Riften, I do feel a bit bad about Idgrod, though, she's great.

Bit of a problem indeed however ... the rest are ok. I really don't like the silverbloods or that guy from the Pale also the Jarl of Winterhold with his college hate can't count on my sympathy and last but not least ... Whiterun.

What you also can do is install become the high king of skyrim ... problem solved

I don't think that there's a question that Ulfric knew exactly what he was doing. Granted, this was all for his own ends, but of course he was aware of the collaboration with the Thalmor. The incident at Markarth indicates awareness on his part, unless he was somehow entirely unaware of the terms of the White-Gold Concordat, which would be unlike someone who is fighting ostensibly for the cause of religious freedom. So he marches in and slaughters those who are fighting for independence for his own ends. One has to massively overlook means for ends if one is going to justify supporting Ulfric. The Empire is not actually "allowing" Thalmor to torture anyone, if fact, they would rather be fighting the Thalmor than anything, but lack the means and resources to do so.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. "Boorish" is another good word.

I can't go with Stormcloaks, they're too exclusive. My character is a Khajit married to an elf, 'nuff said.

Makes no diffrerence gamewise if you go with one or the other.
