RAM helps but not as much as you would think. It's mainly in the graphics card. The jump from Low settings to Ultra is a big jump and you would need a much, much better graphics card for that.
Skryim doesn't use that much of it anyway.

Need better graphic card than what you have. Skyrim uses upto 4gb of ram only.

Unless you plan on running around five virtual machines at one time, 28 gigs is completely unnecessary.

Lol...
I have 16GB of ram and I can't run Skyrim any better than I could when I had 12GB of ram. A player could have 32GB of ram and could still be unable to run Skyrim any higher than Medium. It's the Graphic card and CPU that matters.

highest settings run great on 4 GB, if , of course you ve got a intelligent build with good graphic card and decent cpu

i suggest you get informed on how a computer works, basic knowledge will make you able to build your own personnal machine that runs modern games decently for under 600 euros

32GB looks cool, it s actually useless for 99% of the people on earth,me and you included

I play on a ASUS G75w with 8gigs of ram on a GTX 660m on ultra, low shadows, no AO and it usually ran fine. It's the mods that seem to effect ram, as I experience a memory crash since aquiring a dozen or so modifications, textures, hair, anvils.

The i7m 3 is pretty godamn sweet but I think I am upgrading to 16g soon.

Ah, I picked up a 720p external screen as well for 90 bucks. Now I play everthing on ultra, that's a conspiracy theory I'm working on, HD/Hardware monopoly.

I'm pretty sure I'm not running anything on 4k with this laptop.

Nope. Ultra requires atleast 32GB of RAM OC'd to 2600+ mhz and 16GB of VRAM.

LOL no, this game uses direct x 9 and is using a 32 bit game engine that is maxed out at 4GB for RAM. Here read this on how to run on Ultra:

why do you need 28GBs of ram? that's overboard. 8-10GBs of ram, a nice quad core processor, and a mid/upper tier 2/3GB graphics card should run skyrim on ultra pretty well.
Solomon Hawk Apr 20, 2014 @ 8:29pm
Actually, that's 4GB RAM "maximum" (since it is a 32bit application). If you take into account other programs running in the background, running Skyrim is pretty much limited to around 3GB RAM. Most people run into problems with the page file swapping that has to occur when loading scenes and when they're pushing Hi Definintion graphics .. they start running into visual glitches due to a "bottleneck" phenomenon between the graphics card and the Disk Drive memory.
However, as others have mentioned ... it's the Grahpics Card where you should see an improvement.
Skyrim is completely "ignorant" of any multicore processors as it was built around a single core Pentium 32 bit CPU.

You're gonna need either a better graphics card or processor depending on your build. 4 gigs of RAM is plenty for any game. 28 is just wasting money for something you dont need.
