the searchfunction can tell you more...

The only thing you need to know is that Skyrim has always being apart of the Empire

There aren't any major pros or cons to playing as an Imperial or Stormcloak, but I guess you can think of it this way: the Imperials want to keep Skyrim unified with other Tamrielic provinces because the Empire would stand a better chance against the Thalmor who are trying to weaken it so they can take over and rule all of Tamriel. The Stormcloaks rebelled against the White Gold Concordat, but their organization wasn't strong until Ulfric killed High King Torygg; that got them more support and attention from the Legion. However, many individuals believe Ulfric actually wants the High Kingship for himself and used the White Gold Concordat and Torygg's murder to his advantage to acquire the throne of Skyrim. That's why I always join the Imperials since I fight for the Empire for the sake of Tamriel; Ulfric must be stopped before he suddenly decides to declare war against the Empire so he could rule Tamriel. Even though he doesn't go that far in the game, I still believe Ulfric is the kind of person who'll go that for his own ambitions.

honestly, the stormcloaks are stupid. anything else i want to say were already said by BelphegorATS.

Agreed

Look you don't need to pretend to be unbiased towards one side or another fellow commentors, your bias for one side saturates into your comments so might as well focus on the pros of your side

True, but I wouldn't call them stupid. The Stormcloaks are fighting for what they feel is right and I can't blame them for that. Mislead is a term I'd ascribe to them because for all we know Ulfric is merely using fellow Nords as tools to achieve his desire of becoming High King while they rebel for Talos and Skyrim's freedom. I do believe you can say more about them; I merely provided my own opinion on both armies based on in-game facts.

Why do I feel like a flame war between two opposing factions on this topic is going to rear its head here through the search function? That sounds really foreboding and sinister; hopefully nobody tries to lure it into this thread, otherwise that's going to be an issue I want no part in.

If any wars come up ill just delete the thread

I'm not overly convinced by either side, honestly. I don't think Ulfric is *just* motivated by power, but based on the state of Windhelm/Eastmarch, he doesn't seem to be a very effective Jarl, which doesn't give me much hope he'd be a good High King. That said, the Empire are allowing the Thalmor to abduct and torture Skyrim citizens which... doesn't sit well with me. On the other hand, if I don't pick a side then the war lasts indefinitely, so that works in the Thalmor's favour. By and large, I'm not in favour of imperialism, and I think if the people of a country want self-determination then the Empire ought to back out (although obv there are plenty of Nords who want to stay part of the Empire, so...)

a flamewar will happen again if topics like this pop up over and over again.
each will have its own flamewar. its only a matter of time

Saying things which offend others on the opposite side is bad, but I wouldn't call it bias if one is reasonable when providing an opinion or facts. When I spoke about both sides before, one of the things I mentioned was in favor of the Stormcloaks despite never playing as one. The problem I have with them is Ulfric because he appears to be a Machiavellian ruler whereas his army is comprised of upstanding citizens willing to fight and die for their country. In my opinion, Ulfric is the sole issue with the Stormcloaks because he's likely waging war for his own ambitions and would even sacrifice his own people without a care in the world just so he can be High King.

That's understandable, though you will have to go through with the peace treaty sooner or later. If you'd rather skip the treaty entirely, your best bet is to side with whoever is making the better offer even if it includes things you don't like. That's just my advice.
