Question about mods
So I just learned that steam workshop only allows 50 mods to be used at one time for skyrim. There's a solid 50 more that I'd like to be able to install as well (I wish I did more research before I started using mods...). Anyway, I understand that a lot of my mods are also available on nexusmods so I have a question regarding using nexusmods and steam workshop at the same time.

If I unsubscribe from a mod on Steam workshop and install it on nexusmods instead (without removing the .esp file from my data folder), will my game be unaffected? If it will be affected, how? For example I have the mod "way of the monk", if I were to remove it from workshop but install the same mod from nexusmods, will my monk character be damaged in any way?

Tip: Do not use the Workshop.
If you have too many mods installed the Workshop will screw your load order every time while checking for updates and will cause your Skyrim to CTD and/or corrupt your saves.
255 is the max the game can use. The 50 limit was supposively a server problem with Steam a few weeks back.
Get your mods from Nexus as suggested. Workshop can and does mess your game up at times.
Yeah I intend on making the move to nexusmods and leaving workshop behind, I just wanna know what impact this will have on my saves so far.

Unless the mod author states otherwise, a mod is a mod. So the Workshop and Nexus versions are the same.

**EDIT**
Forgot to add; No it won't affect your game

Awesome thank you, I'll get started on downloading all my current mods to nexus instead!

You can use the Workshop, I use both as do many others
I'll probably leave ones like armour mods and stuff but redownload wyrmstooth, moonpath to elsweyr, way of the monk and other ones that have been intentionally made smaller/lower quality just to fit into workshop stipulations. Should I unsubsribe from mods on workshop first or am I fine to download from nexus then unsubcribe afterwards?
Just don't load both mods at the same time
Would it lead to there being two of the same .esp file for a mod? Just wanna know in case I need to delete one from the data folder.

Steam would always check the subscirbed file and overwrite it. In worst case scenario they are of different version number and gamee CTDs.

Just remove the Workshop version for each file you get from Nexus and use NMM to manage your mods.
