Headphones volume too low
I recently downloaded Skyrim again after trying to get into Morrowind. Morrowinds mechanics are superior in the sense that the combinations and options are a lot deeper for character development, but despite MSGO and others I couldn't get over the dated technical side of it.

In any case, I cannot enjoy Skyrim properly because even with volume cranked to 100%, my Skyrim sounds like it should if the volume was at 30%-45%.

I'm using VIA HD Audio Integrated into my motherboard.

I'm using headphones plugged into the front jack.

I've tried suggestions from the steam forums, these forums and other random searches I found but nothing has worked.

Loudness Equalization actually lowers the sound volume.

I have not made it out of the starting area because the low sound annoys me to no end.

At 100% volume any music, video or game I play blasts my ear drums to the point of hurting so I know my soundcard or headphones isn't the problem. The problem is Skyrim.

Obligitory tech support response: have you tried adjusting the volume in the game options?

I wasn't sure from the first post. Simple things like that are usually what I do wrong. Only other things iI can think of are verify integrity, and/or reinstalling.

I just tested it using a USB headset plugged into the back of the computer. It was still quiet. I enabled loudness equalization on it and bam, loud skyrim.
Try a different driver , A little while back my driver was auto updated and Skyrim went quiet. I got a totally different driver than the one specifically for my audio and I finally got back my sound. And yes I had great sound from my speakers, but my headset was barely audible. Now both work fine.
The most up to date drivers are not always the best choice. Even the maufacturers(SP?) of PC parts will sometimes tell you to use a earlier version if you are having problems with a new driver.
Case in point Nvidia's new video driver have come back with(a previous problem), the driver qutting and reseting itself every once in awhile, especially when playing games.

I had the same problem yesterday, i solved it by changing the volume at the speaker icon in the taskbar.
