HD Resolution Packs or NOT
I have been playing Skyrim for 3 years now and in the past I have experienced lagging with the HD Textures DLC. And at that time I wasn't using that many mods. I don't know if I should get it again because the DLC just lags.

Specs:
Amd Radeon HD 1GB vram
Amd Six Core 3.9Ghz (4.1Ghz) Processor
12GB Ram

My Spec's:

Intel 3.1Ghz E8500 Core 2 Duo (2)Cores
1GB ATi 6850
8GB/1333 RAM
Win 7 pro (64)

Have ALL DLC's including all the high-res texture packs

Have all settings mostly maxed out; FXAA= On, Anistropic= 8, AA= 8, Shadows Ultra (with enhanced .ini tweaks), view distance= max, etc. @ 1080p/60hz vsync= on.

Game runs smooth as silk!... its gorgeous!

What you need is a dedicated videe card, then go into bios and disable the CPU's GPU and change to Win 7 "64bit"

Then you need to hunt down the million and one forums for performance tweaks.

However, you might "first" try some and/or many of the ones found in this tweaks guide:

[edit]
i also installed all of these:

I actually got the unoffical pack mods and win 7 64 bit with a lot of other mods for this game. However, using texture replacer mods for me can lag when turning around or in general at some point. Especially the static mesh, 2k, and realvision enb. I don't know how some people can run this game smoothly with almost the same spec as I have or a bit worse.

Most of them are using ENBoost: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38649/?

Computer are like people. We may be all Earthlings and alike in that respect, but we vary in all other aspects.Meaning identical pc's will behave differently.

I strongly recommend Hialgo boost: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15123/?

When I first got skyrim on my old computer, I could barely run skyrim on medium vanilla. Then I added the mod above and I could play on ultra with several graphical mods.
