preparing to launch...then NOTHING!!!
cannot seem to get anyone to help without having to learn some exotic computer language!!
I finally got someone to walk me through the how to to get the library and figure out that I had (1) corrupted file...which it said would "be acquired" IT HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE!!!
help me before I throw my entire lap top through their head quarters windows!!

When you verify integrity of game cache from your library properties, for this, you will always get one file failing to validate, don't worry, it is not wrong. It's the same with everyone's. Just some stupid bug that I think the patch fixed or something, I'm probably completely wrong, but it's something like that, something not relevant to worry about.

What happens? At what point does the game not work? Do you have any mods installed? have you checked the minimum requirements to play this game?

Try the ''issues with Skyrim'' pinned thread for links once you get further into your problem trouble shooting...

Try opening the Skyrim Launcher program inside your Skyrim folder. Steam/Steamapps/common/Skyrim.

When u do the verify integrity in the library it will always give one file needing fixed. It does only one thing. It reset your vid setup in your data file. Everyone gets that and is nothing to worry about.
You didn't mention if you have any mods or not. At the moment steam has a new 50 mods max for some strange reason that no one seems to know why. If you happen to be over that limit and launch your game via steam's launcher you will have trouble starting your game.

thank you all for answering so quickly!
the game page pops up and when I click on play, the message box that says "preparing to launch" comes on .....then remains on for all eternity..lol...I have tried as said before to follow directions to repair this but cannot understand the techy language used...I do not know how to navigate "mods" or whatever else I'm being instructed to do...I need someone that knows how to walk me through this!

I have also tried going to the "communities" and forums...so far they are of no help...I had to call a friend that finally showed me how to post here!!

my lap top is an Toshiba with 500 gigs...connected to that is where I store the game, a "sea gate" terabyte hard drive...
I was playing for over 113 hours before this happened...the game worked fine until then!!

I did run diagnostics on the computer and there are no issues within the laptop...

where is this, how do I find it, and what do I do once I find it...yes I am that non- tech !

Hang on in there...I think your modest computer knowledge has you at a disadvantage and I can sympathise, I too am no expert, and you're taking this so much better than I ever do haha!

By now, I would be crying like a baby whilst cleaning up smashed keys and wire scattered around the floor :/ it's early into the thread yet...see what else can b e suggested :)
