I did not know everyone was effected. Thanks very much for the info.
Is anything known at all as to what the issue is?
It's been speculated that Steam workshop servers broke somehow and that somehow reverted Skyrim back to 50 mod limit.
You can still subscribe to mods past 50 limit, the problem is that the Skyrim launcher recognizes only 50 of them for some reason.
If you go at the bottom of the Data Files, you can re-enable all mods that launcher turns off, it just doesn't update them and if you subscribe to something new and you have more then 50 mods subscribed, it won't download the new mod you subscribed to.
There's no real fix for this currently. You can wait and see if Valve fixes this or if you're impatient, get nexus mod manager (if you already don't use it) and re-download all the mods Skyrim launcher doens't load, through the Skyrim Nexus site.
I have not been affected by this until now. I had some sort of odd glitch and thought that a clean install would fix it. Little did I realize that i was helping Steam cut my throat and inadvertently deleting ALL OF MY MODS.
I have spend HUNDREDS on Steam and feeling a bit ripped off at the moment.
If I have to reinstall EVERYTHING and migrate to Nexus only ... I will abandon Steam Workshop for good, and NEVER host my mods here EVER again. This is utter BS. They didnt even warn us or anything?
Nope, no warning of any sort and no response as to if they're even aware of the issue and/or if the issue is gonna be fixed.
I'm not sure I want to bother with trying to find all my mods on nexus and dl them or wait for a fix/confirmation/something...
Same here. I have about 150 mods subscribed on the wrokshop, plus another hundred on Nexus Mod Manager.
If I wanted to play right now, I'd had to un-subscribe from atleast 100 mods and try to find them from nexus instead. I really don't feel like doing this, but it's also frustrating to wait when and IF Valve is gonna fix this crap.
Ill take the time to delete all my local data, reinstall Skyrim fresh, and Ill go to Nexus.
Ill never use the Workshop EVER again, and Ill be deleting my personal mods from the Workshop, and hosting them on Nexus ONLY.
I will never support the Workshop EVEN if they fix it soon, simply because they gave us no warning. After all the money I have spent here, and all the BILLIONS we have spent combined, this is uncalled for.
I will count my losses and never look back.
I am now reinstalling Skyrim,
Then I will head to Nexus,
So long Workshop, Fix it or not, you lost my attention, and participation.
So you're going to punish people by deleting you're mods. What did we do to you? It isn't our fault this has happened.
See, this is the reaction I am primarily worried about. If you want to use Nexus, that's great and I don't blame you, but punishing me or other members for staying on Steam is a bit rediculous don't you think? I get being mad a Steam, that makes sense, but being angry and taking it out on other members by deleting your workshop items, kinda, IMO, makes you no better than Steam. Not that I use your mods, but what if more people react like this? You're going to force me to use Nexus because other modders like you leave the workshop, or at least don't leave legacy items of your things?
Like I said, I don't disagree that what Steam did was wrong. They should have told us, and hey, they broke my game too. But I don't play with a lot of mods, and have been ok with the 50 limit.
You do what you want, I can't stop you, but why punish regular users for Steam's shortcomings? Just saying.
I agree with Syrimnut re: modders abandoning the Workshop.. but it is obviously the modder's decision to make so (not a modder if that matters) I have to respect that decision. Also, I only have a few mods from the Workshop but for many it is convenient.
