No footstep sounds

For as long as I can recall, I have been unable to hear any of my footsteps in Skyrim. I play almost exclusively in 3rd person and not only do I have no footstep sounds, neither does my horse. I tried installing that audio overhaul addon, but that hasn't fixed it either. Anyone know of a working fix?

i think you can adjust the footstep voulme via the ingame audiomenu

Yea, I've had that maxed from the beginning and still no difference.

maybe the slider is bugged? lower the volume a bit, restart the game and max the slider out again

I've had all the sound sliders set at various points many times and opened and closed the game probably well over a hundred times so that is definately is not going to fix it. I've altered the audio setting in the config file a few times as well and still no changes. I just wish I knew of an addon that could fix it, but I have been unable to find one.

you can try to change the general audio settings of your pc to stereo rather than surround sound.
find the audio options via the control panel
