Talsgar the Wanderer
So I'm sure most of us have run into Talsgar the Wanderer[www.uesp.net] in our travels through Skyrim. He's a frinedly bard who travels from town to town...barding it up I guess.

Anyway I went into the tavern in Markarth today just before I logged off. Talsgar was there singing, but as I approached the bar to sit, he attacked me. Of course my band of followers bludgeoned him to death within seconds.

But I like Talsgar, so I loaded my last save, only about 10 seconds prior to entering the tavern, this time telling my follweres to "relax" outside. Upon entering he's playing music. As soon as I take 1 step in, he goes crazy again. I tried to avoid him for 30 seconds or so, sheathing my weapon in hopes he'd stop; but then all the bar patrons came after him, and of course slaughtered him.

I loaded again and saved someplace else. Why is he attacking me? Has anyone esle ever had this friendly bard go crazy on them before? I like Talsgar, I don't want him dead if I can avoid it.

Oh and when we fight, if me or my follwers kills him, I get no bounty from it. A justifiable homicide since he attacked me first I suppose.

I've heard of that occurring. Despite what Steam logs as my hours played, I've been playing since its release, and I've neve had that happen. I have the strategy guide and even that has nothing about that.

I've never even seen him in a city, could be a mod thing? There's already a bard in the Silver Blood Inn (can't remember his name, old Skald fellow with a rough voice, love him).
I have had that happen to me. I would venture to say it is a mod, since that is what cause my problem.

The only reason he's attacking you is because you probably attacked him somehow before but you never noticed. That or mods.

i.e. You're outside fighting a few bandits outside, you decide to use the Storm Call shout (thunderstorm that randomly attacks anything). By accident, not too far away, Talsgar might have been there and been struck with your lightning.

Try yielding to see if that does anything. (Engage in combat, hold block and press Action on Talsgar, then sheath your weapon). If he's stubborn and doesn't want to stop, let him die then resurrect him.

No, I have had him attack me on the road before. You and I might have the same mod that is doing this. Is he laden with skooma? Mine is all skooma'd up.
I wish I had some skooma.

Check your crime stats, if you have a bounty he will attack you

Not him but I've had random "friendly/neutral NPCs attack me.
I also had this problem. No bounty, no mods that SHOULD affect him. Made me sad. He had a book titled "Killing-Before You're Killed" It wasn't really the message of the book, but maybe he percieved us as threats.

He does use a voice from the vanilla game. I keep randomly meeting him but don't recall ever doing so on the 360.

It could be a mod, but it could also not be. I find that actor agression is something that can break on some characters over time, even in an unmodded game. Having mods can sometimes make it worse.

I sometimes get attacked for no reason by Stormcloak soldiers and Imperials alike. I've got Civil War Overhaul, and I'm not wearing any Imperial or Stormclaok uniform items that I'm aware of (unless the fur boots count). More often than not, I get attacked by random guards allied with teh Stormcloaks. It's weird, because if its a guard, it won't be every guard in town, just one guard, unless, of course, I have the audacity to defend myself, in which case all the guards will attack me. But if I let my allies kill him for me, I get no penalty.

Other than that, I've had the odd actor go aggro with no rhyme or reason for it. Usually, I can reload to an earlier save and they stop being aggro, which leads me to believe that it is a random glitch. Skyrim is strange, even without mods these things can randomly break. The only reproducible strangeness with aggro seems to come from the guard/soldiers thing I mentioned.(I should also point out that many people allied with the Stormcloaks seem to hate me, despite the fact that I've not allied with either side, nor even started the civil war quest).

They've got quotas to fill and clearly you looked like an easy target.
It just happened to me with another character "Imperial." Both of them were fighting trolls when it happened. Could that be a cause?

Did you join the battle?
If you did you might have accidently struck them.
I don't think I did with Talsgar, and I definitely didn't with the second.
