Is it possible to play this game if you don't have a graphics card?
I have a graphics card but I'm asking for my friend.

don't know if serious or not.

I mean...it might be possible, but I HIGHLY doubt you'd be able to do so with Skyrim. Especially to any degree worth mentioning.

No, its not possible. At best you can get it to run as a low-res slideshow on an integrated GPU (which is what your 'friend' probably has).

if you have a on board card like amd you might be able to . i have a a8 6500 chip with a 8570 grapics and it ran skyrim at medium settings it even ran the mods for it some of the bigger ones got a little laggy .i ran most of my steam games with onboard video at ok settings till i was able to upgrade to a better video card

No I'm serious it is actually my friend. I have a NVIDIA graphics card so my computer can handle games well.

If you don't have a graphics card, there is onboard graphics. that is to say his motherboard has graphics. otherwise he'd have no display. it just depends on how good it is. need to know his system specs. but, to play skyrim he needs; cpu 2GHz or better, 2GB of ram or better, 512mb graphics and at least direct9x nad of course enough space on his hard drive to install it.

AMD has their APUs, which are GPU/CPU on the same die. Those are bad, but they probably could play Skyrim. Those are the only options to play without a GPU because Intel's integrated graphics chips are still horrible and YEARS behind AMD.
HaloEliteLegend 10. mars 2014 kl. 20.51
If the graphics are coming from the motherboard, then no way. Nope. Never going to happen.

If it's Intel Integrated Graphics, highly unlikely. You'll have to turn the graphics super-low (actually, get a mod to make the graphics lower than low) to play at a nice framerate.
If it's AMD's APUs, then you can probably play with a stable frame rate on the lowest settings.

But seriously, if you want to enjoy Skyrim on a PC, then you'll need a graphics card.

I've done it on my old laptop with Intel HDA graphics. Not the highest rez of course, and certainly not with any graphics mods, but it was definitely playable. It had extra RAM which may have made a difference though.

But I would not recommend you friend buy the game without checking with the recommended game requirement. You'll want a minimum of dual core, 4gb RAM (shared between CPU and GPU), and directx 9 or better graphics. Can he play other games of similar graphical load?
HaloEliteLegend 11. mars 2014 kl. 0.41
Make your friend take a computer component stress test to see the capabilities of his system.

You'll definitely at least want to meat minimum Skyrim hardware requirements.

I have seen a mod that significantly lowers the graphics of Skyrim so they look like N64 graphics, and that's a viable option for low-grade computers, but I do not recommend it. You're better off getting the game on an Xbox or PlayStation than that.

Someone made a mod that makes the resolution really REALLY low. I saw some new mods on the workshop by the name DOSskyrim witch does this; but I am not sure if that was a copy of the one I am talking about. But he may want to look in to it.

Most modern CPUs have rather good integrated graphic chips, but then there is still the problem that you dont have video ram, which is important for skyrim.

I would say no, its not enjoyable with even a modern integrated chip.

Before upgrading to a Radeon HD card, I used integrated graphics. Let me say that it is technically possible, and even enjoyable if you don't know how much better it is with a real graphics card, but your friend will need to set pretty much every possible graphics setting to as low as possible. This will mean no light source, NPC or item rendering beyond a small area around the player, and very grainy textures and shadows, and even with that he'll probably max out at 30-40 FPS.

As far as getting the executable going is concerned, absolutely.

If you're asking if you're going to be able to get any kind of headway done or if mods will be usable - probably not, unless you're sticking to stat-tweaking or rebalancing mods.

Sure, like when you go to the doctor to get advice about the rash your 'friend' has.
