Lag Help
Recently I have been experiencing major lag with Skyrim. Other games work fine, but this game in particular seems to be not working well. Is there anyway to reduce the laggyness? Maybe theres a Resolution button I missed.
Please help.

first thing first ... your setup (video card, ram, cpu, etc) then the resolution and current settings. Then what other programs are open on your pc?

Are you getting lag across the whole game or just in certain areas? After a lot of researching I found out that the cause of my troubles was the real-time interior lighting, or the shadows to be precise. A few SkyrimPrefs.ini tweaks later and I gained a good 20 frames. Transformed the whole experience for me.

I have a XPS 8300 Dell Computer. My Graphics Card is a ACPI x64 based PC. My Ram is 16 GB with a Intel Core i7-2600 Processor.
I have no other programs open when i play.
The menu, waiting screen, and cut-sceens work very smoothly. Walking/attacking is the only part that gets unplayable.

first you have to determine if the lag comes from too many operations on the GPU or the GPU memory loading from the HD.

does it lag when walking/tunring around mainly?

i had huuuuge lags when tunring around and stuff, it turned out it was the LoD option that is supposed to increase performance.
But It made my Skyrim constantly reload textures from HD, which is very slow.

thats not a grpahics card, thats a energy management driver or something.
