How to make unlockable house items?
So i've been trying for the past couple days to make a mod that will let you purchase items for your house like hearthfire, but I can't seem to find out how they manage the unlocks.
has anybody figured this out? Or have a link to someone who has?

what exactly do you mean by unlocks?

I'll assume you mean making doors, containers, etc lock, right?

Well, in their properties, there's a lock option somewhere. You can also associate it with a key. I'm pretty sure it's one of the tabs for doors, probably a tab for chests and such.

No, I'm talking about going to a bench and saying I want to build a table, and if you have the required resorces then a table will apear in the room.

Hmm, not sure. It's almost definitely scripted in.

Have you tried checking it out in the creation kit, where the hearthfire stuff is?

It's probably either spawned or enabled via script.

As was said above, it's likely just a script that is called which is part of the crafting table's scipts.

When your components = xx and whatever other conditions apply, the script is triggered and the table item is created at the location. Functionally, that portion would be no different than a sort of "placeatme" console command, except with specific coordinates. You could probably take a look at the bench and its associated scripts and find all the necessary hooks you'd need to use to create your own.

(I haven't worked with the new editor, just recently purchased Skyrim. But, the game appears to use the same mechanics as Oblivion et al, so shouldn't be much different.)
