Hotkey Help PC

Getting ready to start a mage character for the first time using magic only. Started testing out hotkeys on my current character and I have run into an issue. I marked the fire and ice spike spells as favorites. I went into "Q" and set fire to number 1 and ice spike to number 2 so I can just hit the numbers for them instead of scrolling through the favorites menu. Then I wanted to test removing the number hotkeys and I can't remove the association they have with the spells. I removed them as favorites but when I press 1 or 2 I still get the spells. I don't see in any of the ini files where this information is stored to remove the association. How can I break the link between the number keys and the spells? Sorry if this is a n00bish question but i have searched for answers and I don't see this addressed. :)

You'll need to re-assign the key to something else.

And get the More Hotkeys Mod - you'll need it, if oyu don't want ot have to jump back into the favorites menu all the time.
